This is a thread for ID'ing the artists behind the amazing podcasts at http://www.robert-johnson.de/.

And while we're at it, what the hell are the two tracks that open the April 12, 2008 podcast? Seems to be a song called "The Tear Garden," and then a remix of the same..... Stunning.

That's the Supermayer remix of Rufus Wainwright's Tiergarten

http://www.discogs.com/release/1138272

Sadly, since you're asking, I'm worried somebody's taking the piss.

Jedmond, Wednesday, 9 April 2008 02:13 (seventeen years ago)

Better phrasing would be: The first two tracks from the April 12 podcast are actually just the one track - Rufus Wainwright's Tiergarten (supermayer mix).

Jedmond, Wednesday, 9 April 2008 02:32 (seventeen years ago)

thanks! i can't believe i didn't know that. so fucking awesome. but i don't get your taking-the-piss comment?

pshrbrn, Wednesday, 9 April 2008 02:35 (seventeen years ago)

I have such an anti-knack of recognising anything in a mix, to the point that if I can recognise a track - who can't recognise the track?

Jedmond, Wednesday, 9 April 2008 02:41 (seventeen years ago)

haha. well, i'm with you -- it took me about three listens through to realize that the track following was thomas melchior, off the new album (and only then because i listened to the "coming up" sample and realized that recently i'd written on that very sample, in my pitchfork review... if i hadn't, i would have been stumped on that one too). sometimes my utter and total inability to ID music sort of freaks me out, given that writing about music, DJing music, and making music is sort of all i can do. it's a bit like trying to be a literary critic.... as a dyslexic. troubling.

Don't sweat it.

So these aren't techno remixes of Robert Johnson?

curmudgeon, Wednesday, 9 April 2008 02:59 (seventeen years ago)

xpost

"slaps face"

I should have picked that through the Pink sample as well, but...

Instead I'll just wish we could skip back and forth through the RJ podcasts (unless I'm missing something).

Proving myself a liar/relentless exaggerator though, I can at least say track 3 is Onur Ozer's Eclipse.

pshrbrn, Thursday, 10 April 2008 05:15 (seventeen years ago)

"and yeah, it's about time i gave some love to the old school, innit?:

i would love to read the full transcript of the rob hood interview.

it's kinda like i don't even wanna talk about this coverage because it is a bit unprecedented!

(seeing as i grabbed "walkabout" from your mix...)

they must have edited it as there's no throbbing gristle on his jukebox.

stirmonster, Thursday, 10 April 2008 08:20 (seventeen years ago)
