Not the best vintage. Voted "Kind Of Magic".

Geir Hongro, Thursday, 10 April 2008 23:16 (seventeen years ago)

"Borderline."

_Rockist__Scientist_, Thursday, 10 April 2008 23:21 (seventeen years ago)

Nu Shooz I Can't Wait

one time, Thursday, 10 April 2008 23:32 (seventeen years ago)

"West End Girls" of course. I've just decided that 1986 is my favorite year EVER!

daavid, Friday, 11 April 2008 00:23 (seventeen years ago)

...though I admit nostalgia plays a big role in my case.

daavid, Friday, 11 April 2008 00:25 (seventeen years ago)

addicted to love

jed_, Friday, 11 April 2008 02:30 (seventeen years ago)

sun always shines on tv

harveyw, Friday, 11 April 2008 07:54 (seventeen years ago)

One more for The Sun Always Shines on TV.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 11 April 2008 07:55 (seventeen years ago)

Went for Cameo.

Rob M v2, Friday, 11 April 2008 08:53 (seventeen years ago)

Nana Mouskouri "Only Love" - this I don't remember, glad of it too

Tom D., Friday, 11 April 2008 08:57 (seventeen years ago)

Guilty Pleasure: That Boris Gardner record?

Mark G, Friday, 11 April 2008 08:59 (seventeen years ago)

Not as good as "Elizabethan Reggae" mind you

Tom D., Friday, 11 April 2008 09:03 (seventeen years ago)

Word Up, but this is a pretty awful list.

Matt DC, Friday, 11 April 2008 09:07 (seventeen years ago)

I never heard ElizReg. Anything like EgypReg?

Mark G, Friday, 11 April 2008 09:07 (seventeen years ago)

Roughly 50% great and 50% drivel, and especial apologies to PSBs, a-Ha, Nu Shooz and Sly Fox but my vote today goes to Mel & Kim.

Dingbod Kesterson, Friday, 11 April 2008 09:26 (seventeen years ago)

OTM, the bad stuff in this chart is truly wretched, but the rest is mostly good

Tom D., Friday, 11 April 2008 09:28 (seventeen years ago)

There are only three or four in this list I wouldn't listen to again at least once (Cliff, DeBurgh, Berry). But like daavid that's probably just down to nostalgia. Still, at least ten stone-cold classics, add Erasure and Madonna and D Ross to the ones already mentioned.

ledge, Friday, 11 April 2008 09:34 (seventeen years ago)

Oh madge was mentioned already. I'd probably put Papa don't Preach over Borderline but it's close.

You can't not love Falco.

ledge, Friday, 11 April 2008 09:36 (seventeen years ago)

Papa Don't Preach I guess.

chap, Friday, 11 April 2008 10:58 (seventeen years ago)

I'll be a bit sad if Europe don't get any votes, though.

chap, Friday, 11 April 2008 10:59 (seventeen years ago)

it's a lot better than the other lists, i think. went for communards.

darraghmac, Friday, 11 April 2008 11:05 (seventeen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

ILX System, Friday, 18 April 2008 23:01 (seventeen years ago)

Sledgehammer.

our work is never over, Saturday, 19 April 2008 00:12 (seventeen years ago)

So many amazing songs. Can't decide between I Can't Wait, West End Girls, The Sun Always Shines On TV, Word Up, and Let's Go All The Way. Lessons In Love is great too. Borderline was released in 84 originally, so it seems strange to see it in a best of 86 (I guess it was re-released in the UK).

ILX System, Saturday, 19 April 2008 23:01 (seventeen years ago)

"West End Girls" no surprise, I guess. Interesting spread of votes.

Geir Hongro, Sunday, 20 April 2008 00:59 (seventeen years ago)

Who voted for Nick Berry? :)

Geir Hongro, Sunday, 20 April 2008 00:59 (seventeen years ago)

I thought I voted for Borderline. Hmmm.
