Saw the video on Friday night...the highest of high comedy. I think there was a period in my life when I liked this song.

Chris, Monday, 6 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"Basketball Jones" was better

dave q, Monday, 6 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Return of Bruno is where it's at. If you like this sort of thing anyway.

Alex in SF, Monday, 6 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I loved this song and still sometimes it gets in my head even though I haven't heard it since ca. Wrestlemania II

Tracer Hand, Monday, 6 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

John Travolta's "Let Her In." Awwwww, yeah.

John Darnielle, Monday, 6 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"Boogie in Your Butt" was better.

Arthur, Monday, 6 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Step aside.

Colin Meeder, Monday, 6 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"Party of the Time" = Fine Young Cannibal's Buzzcocks cover off "Something Wild" soundtrack?

I still want to hear that Tina Yothers single.

Brian MacDonald, Monday, 6 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"Party all the Time" -vs- "Somebody's Watching Me" . where's your money?

Dave225, Monday, 6 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I think I'd probably like that song now, although at the time it never even occurred to me to actually buy it.

If it *is* the way I remember it being (which is possible but not probable) I think I'd dig it. I remember his voice sounding very plaintive and affecting...on the other hand, it's EDDIE MURPHY complaining that HIS GIRLFRIEND PARTIES. What's his problem?? I mean, did he say she was "partying" other guys, or what?

Tad (llamasfur), Monday, 11 November 2002 18:06 (twenty-three years ago)

my favorite part of 'three kings' is when the soldiers bust into the bunker and the guards are listening to 'party all the time' and watching HBO or something...

dave k, Monday, 11 November 2002 20:06 (twenty-three years ago)

I want that Arab rap song they're playing all over Three Kings, that's even better than Party All The Time.

best aspect of the video is the tense anticipation on screen before he starts singing. Everybody's all geared up...waiting for the magic...Rick James is commanding a better mix from the engineers...lets make that magic HAPPEN!

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 28 March 2003 23:10 (twenty-two years ago)

So spot-on, Anthony. There's one scene of Rick staring intently through the glass, fists clenched as if watching the delicate fusion of highly volatile nuclear materials.

it's posts like that which make me glad alex in nyc writes for a living

Arthur is on the fucking money. Al the way

Put a radiator in your butt
I said put an alligator in your butt
Put some money in your butt
Feels kinda funny in your butt

And like that disreputable "cold fusion" experiment, Eddie completely refuses to "ignite"

Also, for the fine fellow who brought up Return of Bruno....
why, why, why did you have to bring that up? I'm still in therapy from listening to that record back in the 80s.

If, in 1994, someone had come from the future to tell me that Snoop Doggy Dogg and Eddie Murphy would cut a track together in 2013 as full-on reggae dudes, I...probably would have believed it?

softspool, Wednesday, 11 September 2013 12:38 (twelve years ago)

this is ... not as terrible/funny as I was hoping but it's basically just a shittier version of Marley's "Jammin"

what's up ugly girls? (Shakey Mo Collier), Wednesday, 11 September 2013 15:46 (twelve years ago)

He squared the circle as far as how to make comeback music that isn't radio pop and isn't unplugged.

bad bad disco (Eazy), Wednesday, 11 September 2013 16:38 (twelve years ago)

i'm not gonna watch a snoop lion video but "party all the time" is a jam

fresh (crüt), Wednesday, 11 September 2013 18:05 (twelve years ago)

I love "Party all the Time". It was the last track played at Infamous illegal Glasgow after-hours club space Unit when it closed a few months back.
