good night. by miles. still fantastic, and still one of my favourite beatles songs.
although i'm thankful they ditched the 'spoken intro'!

pisces, Monday, 14 April 2008 15:35 (seventeen years ago)

I'll be boring and say "With a Little Help from Mountain Friends"

Z S, Monday, 14 April 2008 15:37 (seventeen years ago)

Matchbox

DavidM, Monday, 14 April 2008 15:37 (seventeen years ago)

Mt. Friends sounds like an indie band from Montreal

fritz, Monday, 14 April 2008 15:39 (seventeen years ago)

Good night. Never realised how much I loved the song until I started singing it to my son at bedtime, which is the intended audience. Tender, sincere and delicate - a wonderful performance by Ringo.

Charlie Howard, Monday, 14 April 2008 17:37 (seventeen years ago)

humour angle wins out with act naturally

zaxxon25, Monday, 14 April 2008 17:46 (seventeen years ago)

I sing Beatles songs in the shower, often. I sing with feeling when I'm singing Ringo lead vocal Beatles songs. So I'll go with 'Don't Pass Me By' (and here you thought I'd say 'Act Naturally' since I sing 'em in the shower).

I had a wonderful dream this past week that Ringo was singing Grand Funk songs with Grand Funk backing him. God-damn rekkid store of my dreams.

Gotta go with "Boys" -- his least-jokey performance, and one that suggested that he was a far more capable singer than he (or the other Beatles) let on. Plus, it contains some of his most explosive drumming (especially sparring with George on the solo).

Sara Sara Sara, Monday, 14 April 2008 18:44 (seventeen years ago)

"Boys"

Euler, Monday, 14 April 2008 19:24 (seventeen years ago)

"Good Night" is absolutely Ringo's finest vocal moment, in my book. It's also one of the few examples where the Anthology alternate version (piano accompaniment --> orchestra fade-in) runs neck and neck with the official version for me.

Joe, Monday, 14 April 2008 20:28 (seventeen years ago)

"Honey Don't" -- "awww, rock on, George, for Ringo one time!"

The Deacon, Monday, 14 April 2008 21:00 (seventeen years ago)

"Octopus' Garden" is the best song, so I voted for that one. "Matchbox" may be the best vocal performance.

Geir Hongro, Monday, 14 April 2008 21:04 (seventeen years ago)

Went w Honey Don“t

Boys also.

Mark G, Tuesday, 15 April 2008 07:11 (seventeen years ago)

i like that Ringo's "least jokey performance" has the chorus "a bop shoo wop a wop bop shoo wop"

fritz, Tuesday, 15 April 2008 17:46 (seventeen years ago)

It's true, though. And besides, no matter who's singing it, ain't NOTHING jokey about "a bop shoo wop a wop bop shoo wop."

Sara Sara Sara, Tuesday, 15 April 2008 17:49 (seventeen years ago)

don't get me wrong, I'm with you on that - i just like it

fritz, Tuesday, 15 April 2008 17:54 (seventeen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

ILX System, Thursday, 24 April 2008 23:01 (seventeen years ago)

i'm tempted to vote "if you got troubles" just because of that hilarious bit where ringo, obviously pissed at how bad the song is, yells "aw, rock on...ANYBODY!"

J.D., Friday, 25 April 2008 00:26 (seventeen years ago)

Honey Don't

James Redd and the Blecchs, Friday, 25 April 2008 00:42 (seventeen years ago)

But "Boys" is great too, especially with the Hollywood Bowl "singing a song called 'Boys'- RINGO!" intro.

James Redd and the Blecchs, Friday, 25 April 2008 00:44 (seventeen years ago)

if the live version of "i wanna be your man" was an option, i'd vote for that. not just his best vocal, but fucking rampaging drums.

Lawrence the Looter, Friday, 25 April 2008 01:02 (seventeen years ago)
