I'll take the bait.

They were broken up when they made this. They broke up over the contracts signed for Luke's 1990 solo album. 2 Live got paid a small flat fee for constructing most of his "solo", but of course, didn't realize it until after payments stopped. Luke earned enough to buy a new mansion, and reportedly failed to invite the crew over the the housewarming party.

Luke tried to make chunks of Sports Weekend without Mr. Mixx on production as he'd already moved to Oakland, so the O.D.S. did some of the beats before finally calling Mixx back in as work for hire (The O.D.S. is Mike Fresh and DJ Toomp, who did second string production for Luke).

Mixx said the Megamix on this album was the most expensive thing they ever recorded as it fell after the Biz Markie case, forcing them to pay for samples they wouldn't have paid for otherwise.

By the time this thing was complete, everyone already had a lawsuit against Luke for unpaid royalties. Fresh Kid Ice backed out of the suit shortly after, sticking with Luke. Brother Marquis started a new group with Toomp in Atlanta (2 Nazty). Mixx released an EP on 4-Sight. Mixx feels Luke chose to release I Wanna Rock (Doo Doo Brown) as soon as the lawsuit was underway to ride high off the success of Pop That Pussy and make the public confuse Luke with 2 Live. Makes sense. Kinda worked....

The story on Hoochie Mama 4 years later is ridiculous.
