Nobody here I'm REALLY REALLY amped about, but my general rule is that if I can find 10+ bands I wanna see I'll go.
I'd pay $15 each for Del, Yeasayer, Roky Erickson, The Mars Volta, N.E.R.D., Erykah Badu, Silversun Pickups, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, Hot Chip and Duffy, so that justifies the wristband price for me.

That's a killer lineup. How come the east coast always gets the shaft with festivals?

I never cease to o_O that the handful of Amy Winehouse fans I know have never heard of the Dap Kings

I just went to the site and I'm now extremely irritated. How the hell did the Drive-By Truckers get stuck in the tiny print, sandwiched between Flyleaf and Ingrid Michaelson?
Nothing against the Eli Young band and the Silversun Pickups, but if they get to be in the large typeface, so do the Truckers. For the love of God, people!

i know right

Line-up gets a tad more interesting every year, but they still haven't upped the ante on the diversity here. I counted 4 rap acts (and a good number of kinda hip-hop artists actually). But damn, wouldn't it be smart to book Bun B or Devin? And how about at least one dance act? sayin.

This festival isn't for the black people. You have to be careful, too much hip hop and they might start showing up and ruin Austin's corny ass version of fun.

Plus everyone knows that isn't music. Those rappers don't even play guitar.

Yeah I got all amped a couple years ago when Lupe was supposed to show up (then didn't) (then his album sucked so I was less concerned).

Diversity def still a problem, and the shit is bringing more and more people to town every year.

― BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 15:47 (seventeen years ago)
because all those people don't need a festival to play here
― gabbneb, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 15:51 (seventeen years ago)
ACL is "Austin" marketed to tourists, and that can get kinda corny.
― Romeo Jones, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 17:25 (seventeen years ago)
Yes all the outsiders consuming the corny hyperreal Austin good God yall
― BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 18:43 (seventeen years ago)
Austin just sort of sucks. I haven't been to ACL yet, and this isn't looking like the one I want to make my debut at.
