I'm friends with a band who are trying to go on tour and to book shows you need an electronic press kit. If they get to go on tour, I get to go with them, which would be fun. Needless to say, they don't have one. I googled for info about what they contain - a bio, a list of equipment, some other stuff. But what do they actually look like? Is it just a word file? Or do I have to make a pdf or something? Does anyone have any examples or advice? Thanks.

Damn. I'm not making a video. Who do they think I am, Bela Fleck?

contains:
* a band bio * a one-sheet: cleverly/horribly/hopefully written thing describing band's recent album * one or more high-res images of the band, preferably taken by a professional photographer and press-ready; tradition dictates that the band be standing in front of a wall or in a field someplace * a few selected reviews of the band's work; usually one cherry-picks the favorable reviews, some bands also include the worst review they've ever gotten because that seems "funny" to them - this is a really stupid thing to do, though, even though it probably won't cost you any gigs or anything * a cash bribe

Thank you so much John. But yeah if I'm emailing it... should it just be a ms word file?

Ones I've seen put a few different documents (PDF, Word, scan, an image) into a zip file.

personally if somebody sent me an ms word one I probably wouldn't open it because ms word slows down my computer and annoys me.

There's also "looking slightly bored/listless while seated along large couch"
