Songwriting partnerships

No doubt this has been done, but I've searched and drawn a blank, so...

I'm interested in songwriting duos, and how they developed distinctive voices while remaining complementary. I'm thinking Beatles, XTC, Go-betweens. Other suggestions? Obviously it could be argued that the Beatles' work started to decline when Lennon and McCartney's songs became so different that the albums (ie the White Album) became incoherent. But I wonder if the Go-betweens' later stuff would've been more compelling if Forster and McLennan had stylistically challenged each other a bit more?
