Cut from much of the same cloth as Fred Durst, here's another earnest white boy looking to earn his street cred by exhibiting talents he doesn't actually have.

Now rap music wasn't really enjoyed by the "establishment" back in the 1980s, so they were primarily guessing at what the "kids" were listening to. And "Parents Just Don't Understand" was obviously a pretty "wacky" "rebellious" little number with all that clever rhyming!
― omar little, Friday, 18 April 2008 21:35 (seventeen years ago)
Yes, I pity the fool who thought Mr. T had a career singing, rapping and wearing extremely short camouflage shorts and stretched to the knee tube socks while telling you to treat your mother right.
― Curt1s Stephens, Friday, 18 April 2008 21:37 (seventeen years ago)
But can you really trust a rapper whose track "Houston Dynamo (Don't Play)" is the official team anthem for the Houston Dynamos? A soccer team?
^he has a point

bobby jimmy (russ parr) is a fucking cog of west coast pre-nwa (rapsur records/kday)-- beyond picking on 1985/1986 post-breakdancing/pre-yo mtv gimmick raps

11. CHRISTINE W - Fri Apr 18 5:27am PDT Except for Will Smith, and fact that I might not know about 4 of the entrants, the list is just about right. Puff Daddy and Nelly entertain me but their voices and lyrics dont always add up except for Puffy's 'Every Step I take' and Nelly's 'Dilemma'(duet with Kelly rowland)but apart from them 2 songs they are just commercial

― M@tt He1ges0n, Friday, 18 April 2008 22:57 (seventeen years ago)
You know, I am not an expert on this, but I find it kind of interesting that most of the people in this list are actually rappers, while there is no mention of Mel Brooks, George Michael or Debbie Harry, for instance. :)
― Geir Hongro, Friday, 18 April 2008 23:01 (seventeen years ago)
could we do our part by not giving this clearly batshit stupid thing page traffic and attention and links?
by clicking on the list, you all justified its existence

i always love brother marquis's voice. i guess back then he was the first dude with a real southern type voice i ever heard.
― M@tt He1ges0n, Monday, 21 April 2008 21:46 (seventeen years ago)
yet, marquis was from california (and originally partnered with Rodney O in the caution crew before egyptian lover got rodney)
that album opening song on the first 2 live was recorded live at the dade county youth fair. mixx and fresh kid ice needed someone else for their stage show, so they recruited marquis to fill in on that show.
luke wasn't added to the stage show/records until a while after that.
marquis was extremely strong rapper for his era and area.
― PappaWheelie V, Monday, 21 April 2008 22:08 (seventeen years ago)
This list lacks Jay-Z, Notorious BIG, Chuck D, Flava Flav, Eazy-E, Method Man, Ol' Dirty Bastard, Rev Run, DMC, Eric B & Rakim.
After all, the more famous, the more damage.

You know what would have been funny is to title the article "The 25 'Whackest' Rappers Of All-Time". Because of how in hip-hop lingo, something that is bad or inferior is "whack". As in, "Yo, that Dee Dee King record certainly is 'whack'." That would have been funny.
― briania, Tuesday, 22 April 2008 00:21 (seventeen years ago)
From one of the comments below the article:
you who wrote this add is obviously and idiot nerd with a pen and paper
Seriously folks, I am seeing this more and more often on the web: People mistaking the word "and" and the word "an"!! I thought I was just imagining it, but I'm pretty sure it's escalating. Practically every day now, I encounter that same mistake. And it's pissing me off!! ARRRGGHH!!!!
― Myonga Vön Bontee, Tuesday, 22 April 2008 00:39 (seventeen years ago)
pretty sure its just a typo
― jhøshea, Tuesday, 22 April 2008 00:46 (seventeen years ago)
"9) K-Fed: When being married to Britney Spears is your greatest artistic accomplishment, you join a long line of Yoko Onos waiting for their eventual artistic validation."
really pisses me off for some reason
― thomp, Tuesday, 22 April 2008 14:05 (seventeen years ago)
No, srsly, I'm convinced this is becoming more prevalent! I don't think it's just that I'm hyper-aware of it, although that may be a factor.
Maybe a lot of these folks have auto-complete or something that anticipates the word "and" everytime the 'a' and 'n' are struck, after which they don't bother to delete the 'd'? That sounds plausible, right?
― Myonga Vön Bontee, Tuesday, 22 April 2008 21:18 (seventeen years ago)
OOH! Look, look!
actually in terms of sound quality it is very slick, but totally and analog album, not thin or grating sounding like bad pro tools stuff.
-- M@tt He1ges0n
You see?! That's from the "Bowie vs. Steely" thread. Admittedly, it's been a full two weeks between sightings, but it's still becoming pretty damn prevalent.
I've got the utmost respect for M@tt, so I'm going to write it off as a typo. And teach myself to quit betting worked up over it. (I'll live longer.)
― Myonga Vön Bontee, Wednesday, 7 May 2008 00:07 (seventeen years ago)
it was a typo i swear!!!!!!!!
― M@tt He1ges0n, Wednesday, 7 May 2008 00:10 (seventeen years ago)
Oh, hi M@tt! (sheepish) Didn't know you were here.
― Myonga Vön Bontee, Wednesday, 7 May 2008 00:11 (seventeen years ago)

Any list like this without Aaron Kwok has no credibility
