See, I'm going to sit here at this piano, and I'm gonna crank out a song about how hard it is traveling around on tour and stuff. It's really difficult.
Me, I prefer The Load-Out in all its nine-minute glory. I really don't care that Bob Seger gets mocked for his long hair.

we are the road crew > the load-out/stay

"We Are the Road Crew" > most of life.

AMEN, NED, AMEN. TESTIFY!

Another reason I prefer "The Load-Out" is because it's a more accurate reflection of life on the road because it's SO FUCKING LONG.

one thing that always bugged the shit outta me on "the load out" was the line about the roadies "workin' for that minimum wage." um, jackson? don't YOU have some sort of control over that? can't you step in and say, "hey, waitaminit, these guys should be getting paid a lot more for their hard work!" ?
so "turn the page" for me -- because seger really did slug it out on the road for around a decade or so before anyone outside of detroit had any idea who he was (like a more determined "lodi"). browne's comes off more like the passive observations of a newbie who's sorta bemused by it all.

David Lee Roth once remarked that he climbed mountains because otherwise he'd just write songs about hotel rooms and the road. He said he had to "fill up the bucket."

That's a bust against Seger (and Metallica, who covered "Turn the Page") and Browne, not Lemmy.

This line now would elicit boos and thrown cups from a Middle-America audience.
