Do you like spooky singing voices? I do, very much. Eerie voices with an airy quality to them are my favorites... what spooky voices do you like?

Richard Thompson is spooky? I've only got Shoot Out the Light and don't recall spookness. Where can I hear him being spooooooky?

Keiji Haino

Maybe he's more downright terrifying than spooky though.

i had a list all worked out for this, but i think that creepy is more along the lines of what i was thinking of. which is different.

I saw him solo a few years ago and I think you're OTM. He started the set with this haunting, unaccompanied falsetto, whole show was awesome actually.

Screamin' Jay Hawkins, of course.

If you want terrifying rather than spooky vocals, I don't think anyone can beat Diamanda Galas.

Bowie goes spooky on occasion, the end of The Bewlay Brothers for example.

diamanda is pretty spoooky (as well as terrifying)

i did always find a spooky element to richard thompson's voice, but mostly on his later stuff, esp. the acoustic. i always imagine him playing in a big wooden house, dark, with a draft

Pseu Braun on FMU used to play a song at the beginning of her show where this really evil voice intoned something about "bad news"--scariest thing ever

Off the top of my head: Peter Murphy, Nick Cave, Alison Shaw (from The Cranes)
