a pretty great band from what i've heard, though i've only heard their last one in its entirety and some individual songs from other albums. i'm not sure where to go next after 'the boy who couldn't stop dreaming', maybe someone has advice on this, thanks.

I love "The Friend I Once Had", fwiw.

are all their titles that long?

they're pretty consistent, so if you like one album by them you'll find lots to like on all the rest. "strangely beautiful" or "spring came, rain fell" are their strongest two albums, i think. the new one might be as good, but it hasn't clicked for me yet.

I can't believe this is the first thread about Club 8. They definitely deserved one. I guess ILM is not big on twee-pop.

two months pass...

my gf is an old school tweepopper, she turned me onto these guys and a lot of others like them. i would have figured i would dislike this sort of thing but most of it is stuff i'm digging on.

i like it but for god's sake can whatever swedish studio all these labrador bands use find a new bloody way to process their vocals

electricsound, Thursday, 10 July 2008 23:26 (seventeen years ago)

I find the vocals on Club 8 very clean, in contrast to the heavily-processed ones of The Legends, so I don't know which you are referring to. Can you cite some examples?

daavid, Friday, 11 July 2008 01:59 (seventeen years ago)

i find the vocal sound very similar between club 8 and the legends. radio dept and acid house kings do the same thing. i suspect they're all using the same reverb and same compression. perhaps nobody else is hearing it, i dunno

electricsound, Friday, 11 July 2008 02:02 (seventeen years ago)

It may be because Club 8, the Legends and Acid House Kings are all the same guy, Johan AngergÄrd.

f. hazel, Friday, 11 July 2008 02:09 (seventeen years ago)

that certainly crossed my mind as one significant reason. dude needs to shake things up a little

electricsound, Friday, 11 July 2008 02:11 (seventeen years ago)

if you can sway him, you'll see immediate results!

f. hazel, Friday, 11 July 2008 02:14 (seventeen years ago)

haha!

electricsound, Friday, 11 July 2008 02:17 (seventeen years ago)

Now that I think about it you're right electricsound. It is a bit tiresome. But I think it probably has to do with other elements as well like the same melodic hooks (which are mostly written by Angergard I suppose).

daavid, Friday, 11 July 2008 03:39 (seventeen years ago)

that is a good point
