Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You, Saturday, 26 April 2008 02:39 (seventeen years ago)

oh man i thought they were gonna play the el rey :((((

strgn, Saturday, 26 April 2008 03:55 (seventeen years ago)

yeah...i might be proven wrong, but those song titles suggest a "swimming pools, movie stars," "gazebo," "sports car," Go man go," type thing, not good. except for no. 8, which sounds classic, er, george best, if you'll excuse the connection.

paulhw, Saturday, 26 April 2008 04:55 (seventeen years ago)

good lord man, I'd take a "swimming pools, movie stars" or "gazebo" anyday over that fucking pansy arse Cinerama shit.

Is this going to be like...the album Seamonsters Part II but not as good?

Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You, Saturday, 26 April 2008 04:59 (seventeen years ago)

I've heard 3-4 of the new songs live......................................................................................... and they're not very good :/

stephen, Saturday, 26 April 2008 05:04 (seventeen years ago)

fixed.

It's not going to be Seamonsters II, get over it!

Shonky YouTube footage of new stuff:

I Lost the Monkey

The Thing I Like About You is Your Girlfriend

Don't Take Me Home 'Till I'm Drunk

Soup

Spiderman on Hollywood

They are all a bit Watusi/Saturnalia-esque, which I'll take over Take Fountain anyway any day.

DavidM, Saturday, 26 April 2008 06:43 (seventeen years ago)

sorry, this is Don't Take Me Home 'Till I'm Drunk

DavidM, Saturday, 26 April 2008 06:51 (seventeen years ago)

I am cautiously optimistic.

just laeked... giving it a first listen now..

track 1 - not sounding good.

track 2 - sounds like the old weddoes ! jangly guitars!

Jack Battery-Pack, Sunday, 27 April 2008 08:45 (seventeen years ago)

Reports have this sounding like Cinerama. Watusi's underrated.

If Timi Yuro would be still alive, most other singers could shut up, Sunday, 27 April 2008 09:16 (seventeen years ago)

first listen complete.. jury still out.

cinerama sounding songs with seamonsters type gnarly guitars

quite a lot of female voice too...

Jack Battery-Pack, Sunday, 27 April 2008 10:45 (seventeen years ago)

Ugh...I hate female singing in this top of music. Always ends up being bad indie-pop. Anything as awesome as the REALLY distorted part in Dalliance or the lead guitar part in "Dare"?

cinerama sounding songs with seamonsters type gnarly guitars

okay, i like the sound of that a lot.

grimly fiendish, Sunday, 27 April 2008 15:02 (seventeen years ago)

i kind of liked the last album so I'm interested in hearing this one.

akm, Sunday, 27 April 2008 15:24 (seventeen years ago)

downloading now...

Not all that good on the whole, but "Palisades," "Trouble With Men" and "Santa Ana Winds" are definitely pretty solid.

"Soup" is embarrassing.

Simon H., Wednesday, 30 April 2008 03:29 (seventeen years ago)

two weeks pass...

hmm. listening now. "the thing i like best about him is his girlfriend" is fucking ace, mainly because of the massive two-minute intro which does that great propulsive-grinding thing that side two of "bizarro" nails so well. the rest of it, though ... it's still cinerama, innit? hmph. not as good as the last one, either.

might be a grower, but i doubt it.

grimly fiendish, Sunday, 18 May 2008 22:46 (seventeen years ago)

aARRRRGH don't say C*n*r*ma please!

Bimble, Sunday, 18 May 2008 22:54 (seventeen years ago)

Amen, Bimble. Cinerama was so fucking dreadful, it cannot be overstated.

Alex in NYC, Monday, 19 May 2008 01:00 (seventeen years ago)

This is pretty disappointing. Not that I was expecting a dark heavy behemoth, but this is very Cineramary, yet strangely light on tunes, and yes, Soup is really bad. Not nearly as good as Take Fountain.

paulhw, Monday, 19 May 2008 02:47 (seventeen years ago)

See, I didn't mind Cinerama so much. Not equal to late 80s/early 90s Weddoes by any means. But still decent to great at times.

stephen, Monday, 19 May 2008 02:57 (seventeen years ago)

the last cinerama record was good!

mookieproof, Monday, 19 May 2008 04:28 (seventeen years ago)

I had a 'take-off the weddoes' title called "Why do you turn everything I say into a song title?" I never did owt with...

Looks like D.Gedge might get there first.

Mark G, Monday, 19 May 2008 07:07 (seventeen years ago)

Not nearly as good as Take Fountain.

Fainter praise there could not be.

Usual Channels, Monday, 19 May 2008 11:42 (seventeen years ago)

this is weak, gedge. weak.

"... his girlfriend" is awesome; the rest is instantly forgettable.

grimly fiendish, Thursday, 22 May 2008 09:01 (seventeen years ago)

and as a title, it's a nick off The Special a.k.a

Mark G, Thursday, 22 May 2008 09:02 (seventeen years ago)

two years pass...

"Why do you turn everything I say into a song title?"

Heh.

Anyway, don't why why I'm putting this here really, but
