Paul Gilbert on the strength on the Racer X album Street Lethal.

Not to say Racer X were better than Megadeth, but Megadeth was more about Mustaine, I'd wager.

Holy shit that clip is every kind of amazing.

if it came down to who i preferred, it'd be friedman sheerly on the basis of his mustaine-induced exposure to thrash and snarling solos.
but these youtube videos opened my ears to gilbert and his general mastery of the craft. the man obviously lives and breathes all things rock guitar. great to see marty friedman ripping up the 'tornado of souls' solo though.
but yeah, just to iterate, it's this awesome game show that sets up the precedent 'friedman vs. gilbert'. this thread implores you to watch the youtube clips!

Plus Gilbert is just so damn charming in those clips, seems to know every classic rock riff evah (and Riot trivia!), and SWEEP PICKS WITH HIS TEETH. I feel 15.

haha, i want to watch his instructional videos now! um, don't know if there are any other episodes. i imagine they might run out of guitarists who are up to the task pretty quickly.
that "big-deth" thing is classic i should add
