It shouldn't work, but it does. A maximalist masterpiece: synth stabs; nice arpeggios; "It Takes Two"-ish samples; trance builds; cheesy sax; New Order high-octave bass outro. All it's missing is a hip-house verse warning of the dangers of actually setting your heart on fire.

the sax part is directly influenced by 'infinity 1990' by guru josh.
― haitch, Wednesday, 30 April 2008 01:27 (seventeen years ago)
I definitely hear the 'infinity 1990' influence. With that in mind, is the song early 90s house/rave by the numbers or more than the sum of its parts?

late 80s / early 90s is the new chic retro, it was only a matter of time before the sax came back.

i dunno this doesnt really seem like that much of a stretch compared to a lot of stuff im into tho -- like hercules & love affair, happy house, that rmx of lykke li

aeroplane
Yeah, that's true.
Also yes I have been to Neo for '80s night. Although the one time I was there, it seemed like their version of '80s leaned a little goth/industrial -- stuff like Bauhaus and Ministry predominated.
that rmx of lykke li
Loving Hand?

does anyone know what happened to the aeroplane remix of 'hearts on fire', did it ever get an official release?
― vain_bowers, Wednesday, 17 December 2008 12:29 (sixteen years ago)
yes, it's out now. i just bought it off beaport. good stuff, but (first time i've said this) it's not my favorite mix of it.i prefer the knightlife remix, but the aeroplane mix is aces
― rentboy, Wednesday, 17 December 2008 12:56 (sixteen years ago)
This track already kinda sounds like its own awesome remix and I haven't heard a proper remix that matches up - even the Aeroplane one.

This song is totally dope, it's perfect for when I want to listen to shellshock but have already overplayed it that day
― beyonc'e (max), Wednesday, 17 December 2008 13:06 (sixteen years ago)
the holy ghost version does a good job of stretching it out w/out changing it too much (which is totally why the o.g. is the best)

I like this fine, but "So Haunted" is my jam.
