2008 Math Rock

By "math rock" I just mean stuff like Don Caballero.

2007 was pretty strong for math rock (the last four may be from '06):

37500 yens - astero
ahleuchatistas - even in the midst...
sleeping people - growing
SWIMS - s/t
double dragons - s/t
ter haar - s/t
honey for petzi - nicholson rmx
giraffes? giraffes! - more skin w/milk-mouth
measured in angles - history of the engine
russian circles - enter
dysrhythmia - barriers and passage
muddy world - finery of the storm

So what's good in 2008? I'd prefer to stick primarily to instrumental stuff.

are Zs math rock? because Arms was great. Also, didn't Upsilon Acrux have a record last year? and when are (((microwaves))) gonna put out a new record??

I liked the Upsilion album last year - it is a crazy old prog album with no 'mathrock' influence to speak of though, narcissism of small diffs but still

That Zs record is great. As is the Russian Circles. Tzadik re-released an Ahleuchatistas album in March too I think...

Holy crap! I just heard The Ahleuchatistas for the first time. This is insane.

Can we talk about weird prog stuff on this thread? I just got my first Univers Zero CD, and I think I'm going to dig through a bunch of the Cuneiform catalogue this summer.

Finally found some decent 2008 math rock:

wayne western - gratton heights

The new Russian Circles is post rock, not math rock. And I think it blows.
