Dunno if i'm getting my wires crossed but there appears to be two Mums (so to speak), one of which i spotted a gig poster for (although not the date or venue for the gig). From what i can gather there's a band from Iceland in a Sigur Ros type of vein and also an Austrian electronic duo both using the name.

Can anyone enlighten me as to which one is touring and what the tour dates are?

the icelandic one has an accent on the 'u'. i think the other lot are on mego or cheap or something.

mum from iceland (or mum's been to iceland) are cool live + plus they are touring in britain i think. dont think the sigur ros analogy is appropriate tho, apart from icelnad-ness. cos sigur ros are fuckin awful, mainly.

The other Mum are on Klein, actually, and do not feature the accent on the U. I just downloaded a whack o' Mum tracks from Audiogalaxy and got about half Mum and half Múm.

I picked up the Múm album from the mostly awful 'Promo CDs we don't like' box at the local newspaper I work on, and not only is it easily the best thing I've ever got free (Mp3s and other illict gains excluded), it is easily the best album I've heard this year.

Can't hear the Sigur Rós analogy, to me the album reminds me a lot of the last Mogwai album in terms of melody, but a lot more electronic based, and with sexy/cutesy female vocals on half the tracks (by someone who was apparently on the B&S "Fold Your Arms Child...." cover)

I'm seeing them live down hear in Brighton the weekend after next so I'll let you know what their like if you're interested.

Downloaded a load of tracks from Audiogalaxy, some of which were the first Múm album, some of which were the vanilla Mum and both types weren't as good as the new album on first lis

My contact for promos had CDs of both Mums in their bin last year. I mistakenly grabbed the Austrian one a couple of time before I caught on. It was bad. They also have a 2nd album out now, so be careful. On the good Mum's new album, a couple of the middle tracks actually do suggest a vaguely Sigur Ros-like mood, but I doubt if anyone would think that if they weren't from the same island.

The last track (11) even more so.

I agree, very easy on the eye.

I just realized the main melody on "finally we are no one" is ripped from the "grow old with you" song that adam sandler sings to drew barrymore at the end of 'the wedding singer'!!

nine years pass...

Anyone know where Slowblow's cover of Brothers In Arms is from? (Appears on an old mix from Mum but am after a CD or download version)
