You're Out of Time: Hall & Oates Singles Poll, Part Deux

This is where Rock and Soul, Part One leaves off. I didn't include the post-'91 singles, but did include Daryl Hall's solo stuff cuz it actually charted.

I suspect "Out of Touch" will walk away with this.

You put my favourite one on top! "Do What You Wanna Do, Be What You Are" baby! Have you heard the Livetime album version of that? So much better than the studio version. In fact, that entire little live mini-album is just fantastic.

"Family Man", which I would have voted for on the other poll had it been an option.

Euler, Friday, 2 May 2008 18:55 (seventeen years ago)

Voted for "Your Imagination," but Oates' "How Does It Feel To Be Back?" is really underrated, and I'm very fond of "Out of Touch" and "Some Things Are Better Left Unsaid."

More love for the Oldfield cover

"Did It in a Minute" vs "Method of Modern Love" is pretty damn tough, honestly.

Yeah what I love about Method is the way it goes on a long time and then kindof returns to where it started. But then I usually like songs that do that anyway!

Gotta go with "Out of Touch"

I like that there's no clear concensus even in the H&O "lesser" period.

kenan, Saturday, 3 May 2008 01:50 (seventeen years ago)

"Method..." has that great outro with the duo scatting the chorus in falsetto.

"How Does It Feel to Be Back"
It was a recurrent on WMMR (Philly AOR) for years, and seemed get played much more often than the higher charting singles. I miss randomly running into it on the dial.

Out Of Touch.

derrrick, Saturday, 3 May 2008 10:34 (seventeen years ago)

I thought "Family Man" was gonna run away with this one.

Joseph McCombs, Saturday, 3 May 2008 22:16 (seventeen years ago)

Went with "It's a Laugh." But wow, I honestly think most of these songs are really, really bland.

xhuxk, Saturday, 3 May 2008 22:27 (seventeen years ago)

There's a decline after "Method of Modern Love," although I like "Everything Your Heart Desires" a lot.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Saturday, 3 May 2008 22:33 (seventeen years ago)

What a coincidence. I listened to Out Of Touch for the first time in 20 years this afternoon and was struck by how good it sounded. Now I get to vote for it.

Nice to see that this poll exists, considering I complained about the previous one! (More about the album than the poll itself, actually.)

"How Does It Feel To Be Back"

"She's Gone" wasn't a single? I know I've seen a video for it....

Patrick South, Monday, 5 May 2008 14:45 (seventeen years ago)

Yes, but that's in the OTHER poll.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Monday, 5 May 2008 14:54 (seventeen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.
