Das Oath are great but I got tired of the vocals over a whole album.

Colonel Poo, Saturday, 3 May 2008 00:23 (seventeen years ago)

oh come on, you all know the answer to this.

Der TPK is maybe my fave of the new Siltbreeze signees.

I couldn't really get into Harmful Emotions

Colonel Poo, Saturday, 3 May 2008 00:24 (seventeen years ago)

try harder?

ian, Saturday, 3 May 2008 00:25 (seventeen years ago)

i'm mad that i let someone else get the copy of the TPK single that i wanted.

ian, Saturday, 3 May 2008 00:25 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah to be fair I only listened to it once. I usually have a pretty high tolerance for appallingly recorded lo-fi stuff but it just went straight over me.

Colonel Poo, Saturday, 3 May 2008 00:30 (seventeen years ago)

i think part of the charm in that record is the production. it's like it's wrapped in a thick blanket, which doesn't work for a lot of records, but on that one I think it's a nice sound. Like how the early Fall records kinda sound like crap, but it only makes it better.

ian, Saturday, 3 May 2008 00:33 (seventeen years ago)

I love the Der TPK record on Siltbreeze. Was never able to get the hang of Das Oath (recorded output anyway), though they get points for design & graphics. Der TPK in a walk.

While we're at it, Der TPK with a slight edge over Das Damen, and both bands easily whipping Das Klown ass. Das EFX for the win.

contenderizer, Saturday, 3 May 2008 00:35 (seventeen years ago)

I think the blanket was too thick for one listen - I couldn't find the songs under the production - sometimes it takes a while to get there, I'm shit about giving things more than 1 chance in the mp3 era.

Die Kreuzen in last minute intervention

Colonel Poo, Saturday, 3 May 2008 00:38 (seventeen years ago)

yeah, i was gonna say, die kreuzen would take it for me.

scott seward, Saturday, 3 May 2008 00:53 (seventeen years ago)

i don't think i've ever heard die krupps.

scott seward, Saturday, 3 May 2008 00:53 (seventeen years ago)

Haha that was the other one I was thinking of!

Anyone heard Die Hausfrauen, had a split with Malaria?

Colonel Poo, Saturday, 3 May 2008 00:54 (seventeen years ago)

i love the siltbreeze tpk album. i still have never heard the single before that or any of the jewelled antler cdr stuff.

i do love das oath. the last album wasn't as great as the one before it though.

scott seward, Saturday, 3 May 2008 00:55 (seventeen years ago)

i like how the singer for tpk sounds like a german mark e. smith.

scott seward, Saturday, 3 May 2008 00:56 (seventeen years ago)

I do want to get one of Das Oath's records but the fact there seems to be at least 3 self-titled records makes it difficult to find the one I want. I do like the Void influence but I get fed up with screamo vocals pretty quickly.

Colonel Poo, Saturday, 3 May 2008 00:58 (seventeen years ago)

Yikes, I didn't even consider the "Die" bands. Die Kreuzen, hell yeah, but only for the early stuff. Die Krupps? Die Warzau? Die Toten Hosen!

Les Thugs appear and take out the opposition with style and panache

Colonel Poo, Saturday, 3 May 2008 01:04 (seventeen years ago)

Speaking of Les Thugs (whose name, if I am not mistaken, is Chinese and has nothing to do with Nazi swine), I am listening to "The Hedgehogs" off Electric Troubles, and for the moment, Colonel Poo is right.

contenderizer, Saturday, 3 May 2008 01:06 (seventeen years ago)

Actually I just saw Les Thugs have not reformed but are playing a load of gigs in France and then playing the Sub Pop 25th (or whatever it is) anniversary shows. If only.

Colonel Poo, Saturday, 3 May 2008 01:07 (seventeen years ago)

What could Les Thugs the name have to do with Nazis? Out of interest.

It's Indian - Thuggi was a Hindu cult - see Indiana Jones & the Temple Of Doom!

Colonel Poo, Saturday, 3 May 2008 01:09 (seventeen years ago)

That is where we get the word thug from tho

Colonel Poo, Saturday, 3 May 2008 01:09 (seventeen years ago)

What could Les Thugs the name have to do with Nazis?
-- Poo
Nothing. My point was that "les" is a Chinese article, used in popular Chinese phrases like "tout les jeune filles et dans la salle de bain." "Die", "der" and "das", however, are Nazi articles, used in whatever phrases Nazis use, the dirty bastards.

Sub Pop 25th: Yeah, Les Thugs with the likes of The Fluid and Green River. Promising, but it's a "family-friendly" outdoor festival in the middle of some public park, dominated by Shins/Band of Horses bullshit. Plus costs more than a few dollars, therefore bullshit.

contenderizer, Saturday, 3 May 2008 01:19 (seventeen years ago)

I completely forgot about that whole "anyone who speaks german couldn't possibly be evil" thing.

I keep mixing up Band Of Horses with Band Of Susans.

Colonel Poo, Saturday, 3 May 2008 01:23 (seventeen years ago)

poo, get the s/t album from 2004 on dim mak. it's great.
