"Lost in Music." Then "We Are Family." Then "He's The Greatest Dancer." Then the rest.

Kevin John Bozelka, Sunday, 4 May 2008 21:00 (seventeen years ago)

jed_, Sunday, 4 May 2008 21:01 (seventeen years ago)

they're playing live here in 2 weeks with Holy Ghost djing o_0

jaxon, Sunday, 4 May 2008 21:02 (seventeen years ago)

"Thinking Of You" is probably number four. But this is really a maxi-single with five b-sides.

Kevin John Bozelka, Sunday, 4 May 2008 21:04 (seventeen years ago)

holy fuck jaxon!

Lost In Music

Siah Alan, Sunday, 4 May 2008 21:06 (seventeen years ago)

"Lost in Music." I may be in the minority in preferring the 1984 remix.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Sunday, 4 May 2008 21:57 (seventeen years ago)

I'm w/ you on that 84 remix.

Also, "You're A Friend To Me" is pretty good.

"We Are Family" = an absolute necessity to have if you are ever DJing a wedding (I learned this the hard way).

Romeo Jones, Sunday, 4 May 2008 22:08 (seventeen years ago)

He's The Greatest Dancer has so many killer lines - "The place was so boring / Filled with out-of-towners touring", "Halston, Gucci, Fiorucci", "He looks like a still"!!

(Pretty Baby is by far the Sister Sledge song I listen to the most, tho)

etc, Sunday, 4 May 2008 22:20 (seventeen years ago)

he's the greatest dancer.

also otm about pretty baby. one of my favourite songs of all time.

ILX System, Thursday, 8 May 2008 23:01 (seventeen years ago)

the chic rmx of "lost in music" might be my personal favorite, but i have a soft spot for "we are family" as it was the pittsburgh pirates 1979 anthem when they won the world series and as such has a special place in pittsburgh.

pipecock, Friday, 9 May 2008 07:19 (seventeen years ago)

"Thinking of You", personal reasons. Also voted for "Lost in Music" already on a Fall poll few days ago. Everyone OTM on "Pretty Baby", HEAVENLY ORGASMIC track.

Niles Caulder, Friday, 9 May 2008 07:27 (seventeen years ago)

I am delighted that there is this kind of multiple agreement on Pretty Baby! And it wasn't even a single! Hey, where were you guys when I first got on ILM in 2004? ;)

Bimble, Friday, 9 May 2008 19:36 (seventeen years ago)

Lost in Music is awesome. I always enjoy Sister Sledge videos, with the tall ungainly bird at the back always out of time and step with the others.

Why did the Fall cover it? Love Sister Sledge, hate the Fall. I remember reading a Mark E Smith interview conducted in the back of a taxi, where the driver turned out, slightly implausibly, to be a fan of both. It went like this:
Driver: (praise for the Fall's cover of Lost in Music)
Smith: (silence)
Driver: "Sister Sledge, yeah, I had them in the back of my cab once. Four black ladies wasn't it?"
Smith: "Four black ladies, is that a fact? Thanks a fooking bunch for the information mate."

Ismael Klata, Friday, 9 May 2008 20:11 (seventeen years ago)

i think you'll find many fans of both.

s1ocki, Friday, 9 May 2008 20:18 (seventeen years ago)

i don't think i've ever heard Pretty Baby!

jed_, Friday, 9 May 2008 20:56 (seventeen years ago)

you must

s1ocki, Friday, 9 May 2008 21:25 (seventeen years ago)

without love
there's no reason to live
without you
what would i do with the love i give?

i'm thinking of you
and the things you do to me
that makes me love you
now i'm living in ecstasy

What if I took you to the edge?
What if I pushed you off a ledge?
What if I scratched all your Sister Sledge?
What if I made you cry?
What if I tell you lies?
Would you still love me?

One More Time (3:07) 0

Jesus, had I seen this one, this would not have happened.

dor Dumbeddownball (Eric H.), Tuesday, 15 November 2011 18:14 (thirteen years ago)

Like, seriously, I would trade in every other song the Chic organization ever did if it meant I could keep "One More Time."

dor Dumbeddownball (Eric H.), Tuesday, 15 November 2011 18:14 (thirteen years ago)

totally addicted to the Revenge Rework of "Lost In Music"

I want to know how chic recorded those backing vocals on Somebody Loves Me, lush.

Would have been tempted by Easier to Love but Thinking of You is undeniable. Took the album to record club the other night:

Love the Dimitri from Paris remixes that are on the Chic boxset. Especially the mix of Lost in Music. Nails it so hard.

six months pass...

I could listen to the guitar lick on 'Thinking Of You' forever..

Is there a thread for the very best Chic-related tracks? Carly Simon's 'Why' is a recent (re)discovery for me too.

Reach Your Peak followed by Pretty Baby is as good as anything I've ever heard, not that that's on this album
