i haven't given it a listen
i gave up on tori around the time of 'scarlet's walk', which i don't mind at all incidentally. it's just that by that stage she had completely exhausted me.

Scarlet's Walk is one of those "it's actually really good!" ones, even though it has that live band polish.

but this, it's more like african rhythms and corny piano washing up over shuffling beats. some of it, tho, when she strikes the right mood...

god, that's a long record as well judging from the tracklisting.

Why, I only got Teh Beeknickerskeeper myself the other week. A first listen got me through the first half or so, then I just got stuck, like, totally numb & immobile. Couldn't take any mo'.
The second 'ttempt went way better. I even started to 'spect some songs were much mo' interesting than others.

there's like 4 songs worth of time of really good material and then a lot of emotional vomit

but that original sinsuality, barring that actual phrase "original sinsuality"

is sooo beautiful

sweet the sting is something else. i'm not really sure what to do with it. i mean it's almost entirely awful but then you just wanna sink into it.

the cover of this album is even stranger than the songs.

which is fine, obviously, but isn't there a way to make happy music without making it sound really corny?

it's just so fucking annoying cuz those flashes of brilliance she has on these albums, they're such a tease. such a fucking awesome tease.
