Way to go, SPIN. I don't like any of these.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 9 May 2008 23:32 (seventeen years ago)

Dr. Octagon, no contest.

(also enjoy the Spring Heel Jack and Neutral Milk Hotel releases, could live without the Prince, haven't heard the rest)

stephen, Friday, 9 May 2008 23:39 (seventeen years ago)

Emmett Miller, no contest.

Kevin John Bozelka, Friday, 9 May 2008 23:51 (seventeen years ago)

For some reason, I have the 2004 one as a jpeg. But I'm too lazy to do a poll. I can send it to anyone who isn't as lazy, though.

Kevin John Bozelka, Saturday, 10 May 2008 00:05 (seventeen years ago)

Zorn v. Octagon

Zorn!

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Saturday, 10 May 2008 03:15 (seventeen years ago)

I wasn't listening to any of this in '96. I think I might have had the Spring Heel Jack, though.

Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You, Saturday, 10 May 2008 03:23 (seventeen years ago)

Time to dust off me sambas and throw down some spastic running man shapes - albeit over the slightly jazzy coffee table.

Spring Heel Jack had some seriously good tunes though, although I think I preferred t'other one the title of which sounded similar to a Superchunk album - something about strings?

Fer Ark, Saturday, 10 May 2008 06:55 (seventeen years ago)

"There are Strings"

Zorn = zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

stephen, Saturday, 10 May 2008 12:45 (seventeen years ago)

Possum Dixon! I still listen to Star Maps regularly.

Guayaquil (eephus!), Saturday, 10 May 2008 13:06 (seventeen years ago)

I can live without most Zorn.
Only others I've actually heard on the list are Octagonecologyst and On Avery Island, I suppose the doctor gets my vote, though I love 'em both. The rest I haven't heard.

RabiesAngentleman, Saturday, 10 May 2008 14:49 (seventeen years ago)

I can live without almost all Zorn, but Bar Khokba is one of the most beautiful albums of the 90s. Not calling it the best, cuz who the fuck knows, but it's gorgeous.

contenderizer, Saturday, 10 May 2008 17:33 (seventeen years ago)

Prince's lowest critical ebb?

Bodrick III, Saturday, 10 May 2008 17:49 (seventeen years ago)

Spring Heel Jack v Zorn, for me.

Hm. Spring Heel, perhaps.

t**t, Saturday, 10 May 2008 19:09 (seventeen years ago)

I haven't heard Chaos and Disorder, but I can't imagine it to be half as good as Emancipation, which also came out in 1996. That one is among the five best Prince albums.

Tuomas, Saturday, 10 May 2008 19:13 (seventeen years ago)

Emmett Miller.

xhuxk, Saturday, 10 May 2008 19:15 (seventeen years ago)

Neutral Milk Hotel - On Avery Island

WTF. No way. If you wanna make pple run away from NMH, advise OAI.

stevienixed, Saturday, 10 May 2008 19:28 (seventeen years ago)

It's preferrable to Aeroplane (but still not great).

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 10 May 2008 19:35 (seventeen years ago)

Chaos and Disorder sucks. He's one of my favorite lyricists, but "Introduce the floor to something other than your knees" (from "Dinner With Delores") is one of the worst lines he's ever written.

If Timi Yuro would be still alive, most other singers could shut up, Sunday, 11 May 2008 01:41 (seventeen years ago)

octagonacologyst and chewbacca uncircumcised performing with curt cobain and roger from zapp

billstevejim, Sunday, 11 May 2008 05:39 (seventeen years ago)

A lot of the teuchno passed me by at the time, so I'm curious to see if anybody will rep for the Billy Ray Martin or Favorite Insect albums.

briania, Sunday, 11 May 2008 05:53 (seventeen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

ILX System, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 23:01 (seventeen years ago)

Another vote for Emmett Miller.

The guy who just votes in polls, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 23:12 (seventeen years ago)

I'm voting for Octagon without much enthusiasm. This list is much weaker than '95 for some strange reason.

Alex in SF, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 23:13 (seventeen years ago)

chaos and disorder is bad bad bad

John Justen, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 23:15 (seventeen years ago)

tuomas, do you really think emancipation is top five prince? its much better than C&D, but it still is in the crystal ball ebb years, when prince was desperately in need of an editor to reign him in.

John Justen, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 23:17 (seventeen years ago)

It's top ten Prince certainly.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 23:20 (seventeen years ago)

huh. ill give it another shot, but at the time it did nothing for me, and i havent listened to it since.

John Justen, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 23:23 (seventeen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

ILX System, Thursday, 15 May 2008 23:01 (seventeen years ago)

On Avery Island has some great tracks, it's just not a classic album in the ITAOTS way. Still good though.
