I wasn't listening to any of this in '96. I think I might have had the Spring Heel Jack, though.

Time to dust off me sambas and throw down some spastic running man shapes - albeit over the slightly jazzy coffee table.

Spring Heel Jack had some seriously good tunes though, although I think I preferred t'other one the title of which sounded similar to a Superchunk album - something about strings?

I can live without most Zorn.
Only others I've actually heard on the list are Octagonecologyst and On Avery Island, I suppose the doctor gets my vote, though I love 'em both. The rest I haven't heard.

I can live without almost all Zorn, but Bar Khokba is one of the most beautiful albums of the 90s. Not calling it the best, cuz who the fuck knows, but it's gorgeous.

Prince's lowest critical ebb?

Spring Heel Jack v Zorn, for me.

I haven't heard Chaos and Disorder, but I can't imagine it to be half as good as Emancipation, which also came out in 1996. That one is among the five best Prince albums.

It's preferrable to Aeroplane (but still not great).

Chaos and Disorder sucks. He's one of my favorite lyricists, but "Introduce the floor to something other than your knees" (from "Dinner With Delores") is one of the worst lines he's ever written.

A lot of the teuchno passed me by at the time, so I'm curious to see if anybody will rep for the Billy Ray Martin or Favorite Insect albums.

I'm voting for Octagon without much enthusiasm. This list is much weaker than '95 for some strange reason.

tuomas, do you really think emancipation is top five prince? its much better than C&D, but it still is in the crystal ball ebb years, when prince was desperately in need of an editor to reign him in.

It's top ten Prince certainly.

On Avery Island has some great tracks, it's just not a classic album in the ITAOTS way. Still good though.
