Dirty South vs. Jamaica in the Trenchtown throwdown.

One has Timbaland in his corner, the other had Lee Scratch Perry.

In a fight to the finish, who is the boss dog of the boneyard?

(i think even mark would have to agree that if influence does exist, then albarn and his little toy melodica [haha...steve bersford/d albarn thrown down!!] is influence of the most dire sort.)

King Tubby Meets Rockers Uptown came out in '76 and still sounds cool. Classic dub melodica is great Augustus Pablo without any doubt

I didn't think I'd ever find myself uttering these words, but H is 100% right. A shame about his new single...

Wonderful productions by Augustus Pablo include "Say So" by Paul Whiteman, "Who Say Jah No Dread" by Jacob Miller and the "Africa Must Be Free by 1983" album by Hugh Mundell. I don't know anything about Petey Pablo I'm sorry to say.

five years pass...

From the liner notes of the reissue of East of the River Nile:

"I made an album with him. I thought it was going to be a hit vibration all around the world. It was a beautiful world but it wasn't my world. My world is not a dread world. So I didn't finish and I threw out the tapes."

What a great album. And impossible to argue with the cover...

five years pass...

Was just cleaning underneath and behind my fridge and found a Augustus Pablo CD ("El Rockers"). I should clean here more often.
