Klaus, winner

Mackro Mackro, Monday, 19 May 2008 20:35 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah, pretty much. The incongruity between him and his hastily recruited backing band makes it.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 19 May 2008 20:36 (seventeen years ago)

welcome to yr latest youtube k-hole

Edward III, Monday, 19 May 2008 20:36 (seventeen years ago)

toe-to-head pan of klaus is one of the greatest onscreen introductions of anyone ever filmed

Edward III, Monday, 19 May 2008 20:38 (seventeen years ago)

i vote devo.

but a lot of the stuff is great.

XTC was good in this too

M@tt He1ges0n, Monday, 19 May 2008 20:40 (seventeen years ago)

that otway part was bonkers too

M@tt He1ges0n, Monday, 19 May 2008 20:40 (seventeen years ago)

NOMI.

kate78, Monday, 19 May 2008 20:41 (seventeen years ago)

poison ivy's sneer is also a thing of wonder

Edward III, Monday, 19 May 2008 20:41 (seventeen years ago)

I was almost certain we'd get a numan-in-the-little-car vote from ned

Edward III, Monday, 19 May 2008 20:43 (seventeen years ago)

Oh, that's entertaining enough. But still Nomi.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 19 May 2008 20:44 (seventeen years ago)

also I love the au pairs, and that's apparently their only footage on youtube

Edward III, Tuesday, 20 May 2008 01:07 (seventeen years ago)

cramps is out of control

moonship journey to baja, Tuesday, 20 May 2008 02:09 (seventeen years ago)

easy to forget how good they were, at first

moonship journey to baja, Tuesday, 20 May 2008 02:09 (seventeen years ago)

they were that good for years

contenderizer, Tuesday, 20 May 2008 02:14 (seventeen years ago)

OMD for me

Pillbox, Tuesday, 20 May 2008 02:30 (seventeen years ago)

I'm stuck between G04 and Otway.

This was like my favorite video tape when I was 14 in 1988.

Usual Channels, Tuesday, 20 May 2008 02:35 (seventeen years ago)

I always liked that alley cats song on that movie but it seems they did nothing else over the years.

sous les paves, Tuesday, 20 May 2008 03:14 (seventeen years ago)

they were that good for years

yeah, cramps unassailably great from '78 - '86, at least. where the expiration date falls is up for debate. saw 'em live in 89 and it seemed like they had lost some steam. maybe lux cleaned up? I'm actually impressed he's still out there in high heels and leather squirming on the floor, dude's over 60 years old.

Edward III, Tuesday, 20 May 2008 04:07 (seventeen years ago)

and here are some urgh! outtakes, now with bonus sneer

human fly
I was a teenage werewolf

the werewolf clip is totally off the hinge, the only reason they didn't put it in the movie is they were afraid every other band would burn their instruments and commit suicide after seeing it

Edward III, Tuesday, 20 May 2008 04:10 (seventeen years ago)

I like the part in "human fly" where somebody throws a sneaker onstage, lux pours his drink into it, sips from the sneaker, then kicks it back into the crowd. pure class.

Edward III, Tuesday, 20 May 2008 04:13 (seventeen years ago)

sorry, the context for my comment is that i know people who *still* go to cramps shows

moonship journey to baja, Tuesday, 20 May 2008 04:20 (seventeen years ago)

actually I'd kinda like to see their tour this year, with sean from white zombie on bass. but yeah, it'd probably suck and be overpriced anyway.

Edward III, Tuesday, 20 May 2008 04:24 (seventeen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

ILX System, Sunday, 1 June 2008 23:01 (seventeen years ago)

Pere Ubu hands down. Great song, great performance.

filthy dylan, Monday, 2 June 2008 00:24 (seventeen years ago)

Everyone knows that Gang of Four absolutely SHRED in this. But I'm still dismayed that I never found the version that included John Cooper Clarke's performance. Please won't a merciful person hook Mr. Humble Bimble up with JCC?

First Paul Weller solo album from 1992 is making me real happy right now.

Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You, Monday, 2 June 2008 00:32 (seventeen years ago)

I still love Gary Numan's "Down in the Park" here.

Alex in NYC, Monday, 2 June 2008 00:57 (seventeen years ago)

Au Pairs or Alley Cats... (votes Alley Cats) but GO4, Pere, XTC, Nomi, X, Skafish - all tore it up ...

dave 2¼, Monday, 2 June 2008 01:19 (seventeen years ago)

Good show from Steel Pulse here.

chap, Monday, 2 June 2008 01:31 (seventeen years ago)
