Oh man, are you gonna be glad you asked...Get Your Leeds Lungs Out. The RS at the absolute peak of their powers on the brief goodbye to UK tour before they became tax exiles. I think a few of the tracks wound up on Get Your Ya-Ya's Out. The Midnight Rambler, the Little Queenie, all of it so breathakingly good (and perfect sound to boot, no pun intended) it gives you shivers. I got it on soulseek, btw. Enjoy!

LiveR Than You'll Ever Be...one of the first bootlegs recorded, pretty much the definitive RS bootleg.

look for keith richards solo in 1977 - sometimes called "the toronto tapes" - it's him doing old country songs, mostly playing piano. i think he just rented studio time to keep himself busy waiting around when he was on trial for heroin possession in toronto, or at least that's the legend. he does "say it's not you" and "sing me back home" and "apartment #9", shit like that. i got a bunch from limewire a few years ago, so it's out there floating around. it's pretty melancholy, the "waiting around to find out if I'm going to jail" story seems pretty plausible when you hear it.

fritz, Sunday, 25 May 2008 19:41 (seventeen years ago)

maybe it's ian stewart playing piano, not sure

is that song they did about claudine longet any good?(assuming they never released an official version)

gershy, Monday, 26 May 2008 07:31 (seventeen years ago)

It's OK. Not as good as it could/should be; Jagger could've done something with it if he spent more than (apparently) five minutes on the words.

If Timi Yuro would be still alive, most other singers could shut up, Monday, 26 May 2008 08:09 (seventeen years ago)

it's pretty funny, but definitely feels like they're just fucking around

one called "Place Pigalle" vol I & II from the Paris sessions that yielded Some Girls/ Emotional Rescue. Lots of country, some funny stuff, some stuff I really wished they'd fleshed out and put on record. A lot of Mick's vocals are pretty hard to hear.

vol 1:
Lonely At The Top
What Gives You The Right
Linda Lu
Dancing Girls
So Young
Some People Tell Me
You Win Again
Do You Get Enough
Do You Think I Really Care
Everlasting Is My Love
I Need You
No Spare Parts
Muck Spreading
Petrol Gang

vol 2:
Miss You
Let's Go Steady
Everlasting Is My Love
Lies II
Yellow Cab
When the Whip Comes Down II
Shattered II
Fiji Jim
We Had It All

There's one absolutely fantastic song from these Paris sessions - I think it's listed here as "I need you" but I seem to remember it being titled something like "I like you too much". It's mainly a Keef song with a nice rocking piano and Mick in the background and not getting in the way. Would have made a good impression on either "Emotional rescue" or "Tattoo you" had they done anything with it.
