Vague reminisces about when Radio 1 used to give comedians DJ slots in the mid 90s

So, yeah, we all know Blue Jam, and depending on our student years we can probably remember when we first heard The Mary Whitehouse Experience and/or Lee and Herring on "The Nation's Favourite". But there was a shit-tonne more of these, right? Did Simon Munnery have a show at one point? My memory seems convinced that the first time I ever heard both Lamb and Skunk Anansie was on a Radio 1 show hosted by Greg Proops. Did I hallucinate this? Who else held it down on 97.7 to 99.7 in the mid 90s from the world of comedy?

You mean they haven't already given the Mighty Boosh a guest slot?!

I think Greg Proops used to fill in for Mark Radcliffe sometimes when he had his evening slot. But I might be imagining this.

Simon Munnery facts: Simon Munnery programmed the Spectrum conversion of Asteroids, a game described by Llamasoft icon Jeff Minter as "a load of wank".

Chris Morris, of course, with the Heseltine and Savile scares - Wednesday 9-10 pm in the mid-nineties (Blue Jam came later).

Also proto-Poptimist imported pirate show Radio Tip Top featuring Kid Tempo and the Ginger Prince.

I think that Tory Juste was given his books long before the mid-nineties.

You still had his dulcet tones on teh "STILL listening to Radio 1 on Medium Wave?" interruption jingle for many years afterwards though..

and what, Wednesday, 4 June 2008 12:39 (seventeen years ago)

I remember the Alan Parker show vaguely, lots of 'we're going to talk about the issyoooos' type stuff. I'm sure I found it funny at the time, though that could be my memory playing tricks on me.
