Herman G. Neuname, Wednesday, 4 June 2008 14:39 (seventeen years ago)

Ok last britpop era poll by me.

Herman G. Neuname, Wednesday, 4 June 2008 14:40 (seventeen years ago)

And White Town gets the vote.

Scik Mouthy, Wednesday, 4 June 2008 14:46 (seventeen years ago)

did you even change half of the songs?

ledge, Wednesday, 4 June 2008 14:49 (seventeen years ago)

Only the ones requested. I remembered the White Town song at the last second.

Herman G. Neuname, Wednesday, 4 June 2008 14:50 (seventeen years ago)

"Lazarus" bitchez

Pillbox, Wednesday, 4 June 2008 15:12 (seventeen years ago)

Paranoid Android.

Chris in Belfast, Wednesday, 4 June 2008 15:17 (seventeen years ago)

I'm not sure what to vote for.

Herman G. Neuname, Wednesday, 4 June 2008 15:19 (seventeen years ago)

paranoid android followed by girls and boys. it's a pretty tight race between those two actually

Charlie Howard, Wednesday, 4 June 2008 15:22 (seventeen years ago)

PUNKA!!!!!

Mark G, Wednesday, 4 June 2008 15:22 (seventeen years ago)

radiohead does sort of stand out here.
doesn't that track feature on a lot of people's favourite album?

Charlie Howard, Wednesday, 4 June 2008 15:23 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah, but this is ILM..

Herman G. Neuname, Wednesday, 4 June 2008 15:28 (seventeen years ago)

common people

kornrulez6969, Wednesday, 4 June 2008 15:33 (seventeen years ago)

true, herman, true... and i didn't even notice 'common people' first time round, which like 'girls and boys' gives 'paranoid android' a solid run for its money

Charlie Howard, Wednesday, 4 June 2008 15:36 (seventeen years ago)

Lazarus is my second favourite.

Scik Mouthy, Wednesday, 4 June 2008 15:52 (seventeen years ago)

So there will be no votes for Embrace then?

Herman G. Neuname, Wednesday, 4 June 2008 16:04 (seventeen years ago)

Never Ever!!! (or Glory Box or Bittersweet Symphony or something)

Tape Store, Wednesday, 4 June 2008 17:19 (seventeen years ago)

I might've voted Bittersweet Symphony if it had been on the worst list.

chap, Wednesday, 4 June 2008 17:22 (seventeen years ago)

Louis asked for Bittersweet Symphony. I was gonna put History

Herman G. Neuname, Wednesday, 4 June 2008 17:54 (seventeen years ago)

Torn between Dubstar, Earl Brutus and The Beta Band

Just got offed, Wednesday, 4 June 2008 18:19 (seventeen years ago)

If Oasis win this poll you would be well pissed off wouldnt you?

Herman G. Neuname, Wednesday, 4 June 2008 18:28 (seventeen years ago)

Uh I voted for "this is your last chance..." a minute ago, but then nothing happened. I wanted to add Saint Etienne's "He's On The Phone". Also to complain about "Glory Box" and "Ladykillers". Bummer.

daavid, Wednesday, 4 June 2008 18:53 (seventeen years ago)

...and on top of that I lost my vote! Someone please vote for Shampoo!!!

daavid, Wednesday, 4 June 2008 18:55 (seventeen years ago)

you voted on the deleted thread it seems

Herman G. Neuname, Wednesday, 4 June 2008 21:45 (seventeen years ago)

So if you haven't already voted on this one you can vote Shampoo

Herman G. Neuname, Wednesday, 4 June 2008 23:03 (seventeen years ago)

Viva Suggs

Bus Driver Stu, Wednesday, 4 June 2008 23:21 (seventeen years ago)

Lots of songs I really like on here: Lush, Bluetones, Dubstar, James, Divine Comedy...I think it's Slight Return FTW tho.

miryam, Wednesday, 4 June 2008 23:26 (seventeen years ago)

"Staying Out For The Summer". Would have gotten some serious competition from "Country House" for my vote had it been included.

Geir Hongro, Wednesday, 4 June 2008 23:34 (seventeen years ago)

So there will be no votes for Embrace then?

i love that second Embrace album, the Boo Radleys are, by far, my favorite 90's band but the votes goes to Radiohead just above "Lazarus."

Bee OK, Wednesday, 4 June 2008 23:38 (seventeen years ago)

My prediction: there will be no votes for fuckloads of these.

ailsa, Wednesday, 4 June 2008 23:39 (seventeen years ago)

too many good choices. i went for 'stars'. lazarus doesn't belong here so i didn't consider it.

electricsound, Wednesday, 4 June 2008 23:41 (seventeen years ago)

I almost voted for Stars, I would've voted for the remix version.

daavid, Wednesday, 4 June 2008 23:56 (seventeen years ago)

I'm voting Leftfield.

Herman G. Neuname, Thursday, 5 June 2008 11:44 (seventeen years ago)

strong competition all over the place, but i can't not vote for 'common people'.

CharlieNo4, Thursday, 5 June 2008 13:08 (seventeen years ago)

A worthy choice.

Herman G. Neuname, Thursday, 5 June 2008 23:27 (seventeen years ago)

it being ilm i expect some silent majority to swing a landslide in favor of take that

omar little, Thursday, 5 June 2008 23:41 (seventeen years ago)

Moloko or cornershop!

admrl, Thursday, 5 June 2008 23:44 (seventeen years ago)

I can't even remember what Paranoid Android sounds like

admrl, Thursday, 5 June 2008 23:45 (seventeen years ago)

I thought Louise might get the lurker vote actually.
xx-post

Herman G. Neuname, Thursday, 5 June 2008 23:45 (seventeen years ago)

voted born slippy nuxx but i was tempted to vote for supergrass

omar little, Thursday, 5 June 2008 23:46 (seventeen years ago)

Listening to 'The Private Psychedelic Reel' atm and really wishing it was the Chemical Brothers choice.

Just got offed, Friday, 6 June 2008 00:22 (seventeen years ago)

That's kinda Chemical Bros for Mojo readers innit.

Raw Patrick, Friday, 6 June 2008 00:26 (seventeen years ago)

Not that I've ever heard it, I just remember them and people I know making a big deal like dance and psych had crossed over and the world was gravy here on in.

Raw Patrick, Friday, 6 June 2008 00:27 (seventeen years ago)

It's really really good, especially if you're quite soused.

Just got offed, Friday, 6 June 2008 00:33 (seventeen years ago)

It's a great track though all the same.

Herman G. Neuname, Friday, 6 June 2008 09:59 (seventeen years ago)

Block Rockin Beats was the highlight of the 1st time i saw the chemical brothers. Private Psychedelic Reel was the highlight of the 3 or 4 other times.

Herman G. Neuname, Friday, 6 June 2008 13:48 (seventeen years ago)

I bet kenickie gets an ILM lurker vote.

Herman G. Neuname, Monday, 9 June 2008 23:07 (seventeen years ago)

I like(d?) Kenickie, including Punka.

But not in the same league as The Box, Black Steel, probably God! Show Me Magic, Common People...

But I don't think I even know what these threads are about any more (cz I didn't think it was Orbital or Tricky) and I'm too lazy to read all 6000 options, so... probably no vote. Though I should go home and see what the Beta Band sound like now the only thing of theirs I've listened to in the best part of a decade is Sequinsizer / To You Alone when I unexpectedly found the CD this year and then lost it again.

a passing spacecadet, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 09:49 (seventeen years ago)

Too many songs, can't answer it.

Mark C, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 14:57 (seventeen years ago)

just voted for earl brutus

Just got offed, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 00:05 (seventeen years ago)

God Show Me Magic!

teflon monkey, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 00:13 (seventeen years ago)

After much consideration I boringly voted for Radiohead.

chap, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 00:28 (seventeen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

ILX System, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 23:01 (seventeen years ago)

I have a funny feeling this poll will get about half the votes of the worst poll.
If so, does that mean ILM prefers negativity?

Herman G. Neuname, Thursday, 12 June 2008 00:40 (seventeen years ago)

If I say no, am I being negative?

Mark G, Thursday, 12 June 2008 08:31 (seventeen years ago)

I would guess it means it's a bullshit poll with ridiculous options.

ledge, Thursday, 12 June 2008 09:01 (seventeen years ago)

well thanks for your input

Herman G. Neuname, Thursday, 12 June 2008 11:49 (seventeen years ago)

If so, does that mean ILM prefers negativity?

Most of the people here are more likely to dislike a mag because of what kind of acts they chose to feature on the frontpage than what kind of acts are being unjustly slaughtered in their reviews. I think that answers your question...

Geir Hongro, Thursday, 12 June 2008 11:58 (seventeen years ago)

Btw. I am the opposite way. I wouldn't give a flying fuck whether my favourite mags do a feature on acts I dislike - I just don't read that feature - but if they run a negative campaign about one of my favourite acts, or ignore them altogether (like specialist mags such as Kerrang, The Source and Mixmag do with all of my favourite music), then I will dislike that mag.

Geir Hongro, Thursday, 12 June 2008 12:00 (seventeen years ago)

NME and Q dont give bad reviews do they?

Herman G. Neuname, Thursday, 12 June 2008 12:00 (seventeen years ago)

Q rarely gives a bad review, but they sometimes do. Mainly to the kind of throwaway teenybopper act that nobody who reads music mags (apart from "Smash Hits") likes anyway.

Geir Hongro, Thursday, 12 June 2008 21:55 (seventeen years ago)

Smash Hits doesn't exist anymore

Herman G. Neuname, Thursday, 12 June 2008 22:48 (seventeen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

ILX System, Thursday, 12 June 2008 23:01 (seventeen years ago)

Open Up is one of the worst tracks on Leftism.

chap, Thursday, 12 June 2008 23:11 (seventeen years ago)

the original (extended) single mix is better

Herman G. Neuname, Thursday, 12 June 2008 23:13 (seventeen years ago)

Jesus, that Leftfield track must be mighty good to beat Paranoid Android.

Bimble, Thursday, 12 June 2008 23:15 (seventeen years ago)

It's got Johnny Rotten on it.

chap, Thursday, 12 June 2008 23:16 (seventeen years ago)

Oh, I seem to remember him doing something with them, now. I'm curious to hear it.

Herman G. Neuname, Thursday, 12 June 2008 23:28 (seventeen years ago)

That 2nd one is the best version of the song IMO

Herman G. Neuname, Thursday, 12 June 2008 23:34 (seventeen years ago)

I really like the slow dubby breakdown that starts at 4.30 on the album version:http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=uTKX2HIPnxA&;feature=related

chap, Friday, 13 June 2008 00:07 (seventeen years ago)

Portishead - Glory Box 1

stephen, Friday, 13 June 2008 00:35 (seventeen years ago)

Herman G. Neuname, Friday, 13 June 2008 18:06 (seventeen years ago)

Holy fucking crap, that Leftfield/Lydon song is amazing. I can't wait to play that at the gym next week.

Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You, Sunday, 15 June 2008 08:02 (seventeen years ago)

The whole album is amazing.

Herman G. Neuname, Sunday, 15 June 2008 14:46 (seventeen years ago)
