So, I just found out that Buddy Miles passed away in February...this is VERY upsetting to me. So, I threw on my Band of Gypsies CD that I've had for like 15 years. And the first track, "Who Knows?" is ALL fucked up. Won't play. Rest of the disc seems fine, but that first track is ESSENTIAL.
So, can anyone offer any help with this - either with a copy of the disc, that track (not the one from Live at the Fillmore, either...good, but not the same), or some advice on getting the CD polished or whatever.

First off, inspect the CD to determine whether there's any physical damage. If it's scratched on the bottom, then it's likely that it can be fixed. If it's damaged on the top, then probably not. There are cheap CD buffing kits that you can use to remove scratches, and they're easy to find.
If there's no physical damage, then there's not much you can do. The first CD I ever bought, a Misfits comp, started to skip on every track a few years ago, no matter what CD player I used. I just put it away and it fixed itself by the next time I played it, about a year later. So who knows? The damage may not be permanent.
