Tracer never followed through, so I'm initiatin'
This is not the best answer but I'll start with Ralph Lundsten & The Andromeda All Stars' Discophrenia.

I'm guessing Scott's heard of Ralph Lundsten, but perhaps not this album. I've only heard a few others, but Discophrenia is the clear stand-out.. pretty much what you'd imagine Perrey & Kingsley would have sounded like if Manual Göttsching had ambushed both of them, hotboxed them, and persuaded them into a small career digression into "kozmikgroove".
Lundsten was a long-distance peer of Bob Moog, I believe, in making some of the first electronic instruments.
...
Still wanna hear "Hot Box" by Badazz

There's also some early 70s droney Christian take on the Silver Apples, a duo called The Universe and release a self titled album. Can't find it online, but it's more of a true foreshadower of "dronerock" than the Silver Apples or the Velvets. The best part is the back cover, which features lead dude in an extravagant space wizard custome but has a stone cold diffident rocker pose on his face that Mick Jagger, Anton Newcombe, or the Courtney guy in the Dandy Warhols would KILL for.
