rev, Monday, 9 June 2008 16:38 (seventeen years ago)

Great list. I am going with my personal favorite in the list, "Could It Be I'm Falling in Love" by The Spinners.

Joe, Monday, 9 June 2008 16:55 (seventeen years ago)

"The Love I Lost (Pt. 1)" Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes

deej, Monday, 9 June 2008 17:01 (seventeen years ago)

almost voted 'truckin'

deej, Monday, 9 June 2008 17:01 (seventeen years ago)

Johnnie Taylor

Kerm, Monday, 9 June 2008 17:03 (seventeen years ago)

Don't know many of these, might spend a little time with YouTube (they'll have to be pretty damn startling to beat Stevie, though).

chap, Monday, 9 June 2008 17:04 (seventeen years ago)

Stevie votes will, though.

Kerm, Monday, 9 June 2008 17:11 (seventeen years ago)

'funky worm' gonna be underrated

deej, Monday, 9 June 2008 17:16 (seventeen years ago)

kind of impossible but i'm thinking "livin' for the city" or "doin' it to death". or "let's get it on". or "midnight train to georgia."

Jordan, Monday, 9 June 2008 17:16 (seventeen years ago)

holy shit didn't even see "Funky Worm"

rev, Monday, 9 June 2008 17:16 (seventeen years ago)

I've narrowed it down to the songs I've heard.

rev, Monday, 9 June 2008 17:17 (seventeen years ago)

and maybe some of the others

rev, Monday, 9 June 2008 17:18 (seventeen years ago)

I'm gonna vote for "Pillow Talk" since no one else will and it deserves to get some shine... great song.

The Brainwasher, Monday, 9 June 2008 17:19 (seventeen years ago)

i know it;s played to death but midnight train is pretty hard to fuck with.

will, Monday, 9 June 2008 17:24 (seventeen years ago)

I'm gonna vote for "Pillow Talk" since no one else will and it deserves to get some shine... great song.

I'm gonna second~!

Lolpez, Monday, 9 June 2008 17:29 (seventeen years ago)

Superstition

rockapads, Monday, 9 June 2008 18:08 (seventeen years ago)

Predicting "Midnight Train" takes it..

billstevejim, Monday, 9 June 2008 19:01 (seventeen years ago)

Voted for Keep on Truckin' but I'm almost in tears over not voting for some of the others.

musically, Monday, 9 June 2008 19:07 (seventeen years ago)

this is impossible but "Could It Be I'm Falling in Love" is one of my favorite groups ever right there in the sweet spot. "Let's Get It On" the closest 2nd for me but they're all bunched up comin' around the turn like.

J0hn D., Monday, 9 June 2008 19:11 (seventeen years ago)

Totally impossible, so why not vote all weird? I did not realize that "Why Can't We Live Together" by Timmy Thomas was a #1 song, so I'm going for that. And also because it's just great. I'm sure I've gone off on it before somewhere, to someone.

kenan, Monday, 9 June 2008 19:28 (seventeen years ago)

Voted "Let's Get It On" as those three Stevie Wonder tracks are among his weakest from that era (the melodic ballads are a lot nicer, but most were not singles)

Geir Hongro, Monday, 9 June 2008 21:37 (seventeen years ago)

This would be impossible, but I've been listening to a lot of Johnnie Taylor (as noted here earlier). So I'm going for his record, a really sublime one.

If Timi Yuro would be still alive, most other singers could shut up, Monday, 9 June 2008 21:54 (seventeen years ago)

Ohio Players

Herman G. Neuname, Monday, 9 June 2008 22:18 (seventeen years ago)

lol geirbot

Jordan, Monday, 9 June 2008 22:33 (seventeen years ago)

timmy thomas barely over ohio players barely over o'jays barely over spinners (cibifil) barely over everything else - list is scary good

balls, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 02:39 (seventeen years ago)

if harold melvin ends up w/ only 1 vote u r all fired

deej, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 02:46 (seventeen years ago)

Tell all the folks in Russia, and China too, I voted for O'Jays. Started humming it as soon as I saw it on the list.

Lamp, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 02:49 (seventeen years ago)

I gave another Spinners vote. O'Jays is my least favorite track of the list, and the Independents' "Leaving Me" was the only one I didn't know.

Joseph McCombs, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 05:24 (seventeen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

ILX System, Wednesday, 18 June 2008 23:01 (sixteen years ago)

Well I'm not going to pick just ONE.

VeronaInTheClub, Thursday, 19 June 2008 00:01 (sixteen years ago)

"Why Can't We Live Together" Timmy Thomas but others gave me pause.

"Funky Worm" is well overrated.

Raw Patrick, Thursday, 19 June 2008 00:11 (sixteen years ago)

I was annoyed that "I Can't Stand The Rain" wasn't on the list and even more annoyed to discover that it peaked at only #6

Elvis Telecom, Thursday, 19 June 2008 00:21 (sixteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.
