Which rock classic achieved the more resonant portrayal of urban squalor, drug addiction, and existential ennui, with redemption found in romantic love? Why?

Appetite has much better hooks, songwriting, singing, instrumentation, lyrics, and cover art. Otherwise they're pretty even.

Appettite had Axl Rose, who can't sing. And that faggy dance he does in the "s.c.o.m." video scores no points, since he's such a homophobe.

VU & Nico, duh. Cause Appetite's NOT a rock classic. It's OK, though, except for the singing the faggy dancing.

Why am I up at 5 am downloading Etienne Daho songs?

Why are you up Arthur? I'm getting paid to twiddle my thumbs here.

I like listening to The Velvet Underground more. I'm not sure which is the more resonant portrayal of what what though.

Alex--I foolishly decided to take a nap when I got home from work at 7:30 last night. It lasted till 4 in the morning. But now I'm off to bed again. See ya!

Axl was prettier than Lou, but not Nico. The Velvets LP cover was far better.

Axl's voice = Flip Wilson doing his "Geraldine" schtick. "You in the jungle baby!" = "Killer gon' getcha!" Come to think of it, Flip's portrayal is pretty "resonant" too.

I'm quite of the mindset that APPETITE wasn't nearly as ground- breaking as everyone says it was. Sure, it's okay, but is it really that different from the product that was being pushed at the time by bands like Faster Pussycat, Hanoii Rocks and Motley Crue? I think not.

Whereas THE VELVET UNDERGROUND & NICO just came out of fucking nowhere and sounded like nothing else at the time.

Listening to them both now, while they're both still fine records, but it's V.U & NICO that sounds more exciting to me.

oh please: *izzy* is prettier than nico

Because Etienne Daho is great! Have you heard any of the more recent live versions of Epaule Tatoo? He's completely changed the song, but not really for the better.

A Nairn, Thursday, 9 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Axl Rose = Flip Wilson doing Geraldine. That's the greatest thing since Andrew Dice Clay = Fonzie doing Rodney Dangerfield.

I hate Guns & Roses because they're Geraldine crossed with Ratt.
I love Guns & Roses because they're fat, has-been crossed with hayseed.

Dave225, Thursday, 9 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

mark s is funnier than Flip Wilson.
