Orange 9mm C/D?

I remember these guys as being really good when I saw them years and years ago, but when I finally tried to play their CD (Driver*) again, it was too scratched to be read at all. Probably because I bought it when I was 15…

Were these guys as good as I remember them? Similarly, I remember some connection with the band Quicksand, and I remember really liking them too, but I can't find their albums at all around my house, and I want to know whether I should bother looking for them again (and maybe even paying money for them, since my cursory internet searching has come up blank).

quicksand "slip" kills anything orange 9mm did. no connection besides the fact they probably both recorded with don fury, played many shows together, and were popular during the same time in the early 90s.

The guitar player from Orange 9MM/Die 116 later joined Walter Schreiffels from Quicksand in Rival Schools and released a great album in 2001. Actually, Rival Schools just reformed and are now touring some summer festivals.

The first Quicksand EP with the screaming bust guy is just a total monster. re: Orange 9MM. I saw those dudes at least a few times and was never impressed. Stick with the first Quicksand EP and the first LP, 'Slip'. Perhaps the last good album associated with Revelation Records, much as it pains me to admit it.

But I guess if you're digging that stuff, you might like 'Manic Compression' and probably a Helmet or Hum album to boot.

DUDES!

There is a crucial connection between Orange 9mm and Quicksand, which is the band Burn. Chaka Malik, singer for O9mm, sang for Burn previously. Awesome powerhouse drummer Alan Cage was in Burn and Quicksand concurrently.

Burn's first Revelation EP is awesome, brutal stuff.

Never liked O9mm--seemed like weirdly commercial pandering (which is what Burn started to shoot for before disbanding...).
