Between "My Mind's Eye" and "Don't You (Forget About Me)".

Tom D., Friday, 13 June 2008 09:13 (seventeen years ago)

note: Did not include "Shiny Happy People" because they never actually disowned it. (cf: Shiny happy monsters)

Mark G, Friday, 13 June 2008 09:16 (seventeen years ago)

"Country House" is even better, but "Bang" is great too so I voted for that.

I also love "It's Called a Heart".

I dodn't know that Simple Minds disowned "Don't You Forget About Me"? Strange, as they have largely modelled their later style on that hit song.

Geir Hongro, Friday, 13 June 2008 09:22 (seventeen years ago)

The fact that it was written by an ex-member of Amon Duul II and not them rankled with them

Tom D., Friday, 13 June 2008 09:23 (seventeen years ago)

I didn't know you liked Country House, Geir.

nate woolls, Friday, 13 June 2008 09:28 (seventeen years ago)

Even worse, he thinks it's their best song!

Tom D., Friday, 13 June 2008 09:28 (seventeen years ago)

Hadn't it been for Crowded House's wonderful "Four Seasons In One Day", "Country House" would have been the best track of the entire 90s.

Geir Hongro, Friday, 13 June 2008 09:30 (seventeen years ago)

Jesus.

nate woolls, Friday, 13 June 2008 09:30 (seventeen years ago)

xpost on Shiny Happy People - leaving arguably your biggest hit off your "best of" album is tantamount to disowning, no?

Thomas, Friday, 13 June 2008 11:34 (seventeen years ago)

"Popscene" a lot more "disowned" than "Bang" I would have thought.

Dingbod Kesterson, Friday, 13 June 2008 11:38 (seventeen years ago)

And where is "Remote Control" Clash band?

Dingbod Kesterson, Friday, 13 June 2008 11:45 (seventeen years ago)

Well, it got the big "You lot didn't buy it, you don't deserve it!" schtick.

And "Shiny", well there's quite a lot missed off the "best of" isn't there?

and Remote Control um, yeah they didn't disown the track, just didn't want it out as a single. As opposed to the "My Minds Eye" Small faces, where they didn't even know it was out and hadn't even finished it.

Mark G, Friday, 13 June 2008 11:48 (seventeen years ago)

I voted for Hi Ho Silver Lining.

Matt DC, Friday, 13 June 2008 11:54 (seventeen years ago)

"Popscene" a lot more "disowned" than "Bang" I would have thought.

"Popscene" is disowned by their fans. "Bang" and "Country House" are disowned by the band.

Geir Hongro, Friday, 13 June 2008 12:09 (seventeen years ago)

"Fall Out" by the Police.

Dingbod Kesterson, Friday, 13 June 2008 12:15 (seventeen years ago)

"Match Of The Day" by Genesis.

Dingbod Kesterson, Friday, 13 June 2008 12:15 (seventeen years ago)

"I'm Gonna Get Me A Gun" by Cat Stevens.

Dingbod Kesterson, Friday, 13 June 2008 14:26 (seventeen years ago)

Request for nominations! Favourite DISOWNED single

Billy Dods, Friday, 13 June 2008 14:29 (seventeen years ago)

No, that's the old thread.

IF you want to talk about more disowned tracks, at least keep the poll flying!

(plz)

Mark G, Friday, 13 June 2008 14:30 (seventeen years ago)

I never looked at that thread because I assumed there was some hopeless D-list emo band called Disowned.

Also I initially thought this thread might be about Robbie Robertson outtakes or similar.

Dingbod Kesterson, Friday, 13 June 2008 15:08 (seventeen years ago)

Well, it was gonna be called:

The Band, not the band the band but any diven band, disown, not the band disown but the act of disowning, the single as in individual track recorded and promoted as a single entity, but look chaps, here is a place where one of the qualifying entities can be held in regard. Poll. not short for parrot either.

Mark G, Friday, 13 June 2008 15:10 (seventeen years ago)

given, not diven.

Mark G, Friday, 13 June 2008 15:11 (seventeen years ago)

Hahahha.

Bimble, Friday, 13 June 2008 15:14 (seventeen years ago)

The belt, is not the belt belt, moreover any diven belt, denied, is not the belt denied, but moves denied, only like in record independent track, and promoted, when only individual, but the look bursts, the qualified individual may take by the characteristic place. Public opinion poll. Has not been the parrot is short.

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

ILX System, Tuesday, 17 June 2008 23:01 (seventeen years ago)

The grammatical error in this thread title is bumming me out every time I see it so I'm not voting in the poll

If Assholes Could Fly This Place Would Be An Airport, Tuesday, 17 June 2008 23:23 (seventeen years ago)

grammar looks ok to me.

Mark G, Wednesday, 18 June 2008 09:06 (seventeen years ago)

I think it's a band singular/disown not singular kinda deal.

Dingbod Kesterson, Wednesday, 18 June 2008 09:07 (seventeen years ago)

XP regarding the La's: Lee Mavers disowns everything they've ever recorded anyway.

Geir Hongro, Wednesday, 18 June 2008 09:19 (seventeen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

ILX System, Wednesday, 18 June 2008 23:01 (seventeen years ago)

Now, that's a scattering.
