Ha ha vahid there are, like, only three house tracks on that list!

Mind you guy on the poster on the back wall is hott, would keep me there right through "Your Song".

hmm i feel like every time i go in there (which is basically once a year, in june, to stock up on shorts, because their shorts are totally the best shorts in the world) they're playing commercial diva house at full volume.

and duh, their clientele is like 95% teenagers, so yeah, it's a weird choice of music for teenagers.

except i've found that american teenagers actually *do* like some house & techno, in a really weird passive-aggressive way. like, as a novetly. so most of the teenagers in my classes have benny benassi's "satisfaction" on their iPods, and they profess "oh i just have it because it's SO FUNNY". sorta like all my rock-listening friends in college who wouldn't admit to actually liking "rockafella skank" or "revolution 909 ", "oh yeah, we just like to turn it up super-loud and play it ten times in a row to, uh, annoy the neighbors (nervous over-earnest laughter)"

anyway "like a star"!

moonship journey to baja, Sunday, 15 June 2008 01:32 (seventeen years ago)

^^^ so true

back in h.s. we were serious about like daft punk & chem bros but shit like happy hardcore comps were all for the lolz except we kept buying them

i think a lot of that is just having a set of critical terms that are out of touch with your musical impulses.... like, we would say "its just so crazy and funny" as though they werent good reasons for banging some shit

we would say "its just so crazy and funny" as though they werent good reasons for banging some shit

OTFM

yeah you guys are otm, every top 40 station i've ever heard plays straight up house like after 1 am but never during "normal" listening hours. it's a weird thing

Vahid show me the shorts. I need some new shorts. Vibrantly coloured midlengths seem to be in over here but all the good examples cost one week of take home pay.

Vahid and Ethan's stories ring true to me but it's so outside of my own experience at school. My friends were into Celine Dion and Madonna or industrial and psychedelic trance, so any house or whatever I had seemed respectable to the point of staidness by default. I suppose the guys who only listened to The Offspring might have grappled with their enjoyment of "Around The World" or "9PM (Till I Come)" but I never witnessed their moral crises.

i dunno man when you just fuck with like wu tang and rage against the machine that means like "around the world" is cool but str8-up diva house is off in that fake ironic appreciation mode til you get the fuck over it

and what, Sunday, 15 June 2008 01:47 (seventeen years ago)

amber crombie and fitch clothes look chatchie as hell
