The inclusion of "Watching The Detectives" is kind of controversial, but at one moment it was part of this album, and I forgot to add it to the "My Aim Is True" poll. Plus the fact that it had The Attractions as a backing band rather than Rockpile means it fits better into this album anyway.

Other than the added "...Detectives", I am not so fond of the singles here, but there are lots of other great tracks. My vote for "This Year's Girl".

It's such a boring choice, but I gotta go with "Pump It Up."

where's "radio radio"?!?!?!?

Eisbaer, Sunday, 15 June 2008 18:03 (seventeen years ago)

I vote Radio, Radio too.

kingkongvsgodzilla, Sunday, 15 June 2008 18:15 (seventeen years ago)

"Radio Radio" hasn't been included on the album until recently.

Geir Hongro, Sunday, 15 June 2008 18:16 (seventeen years ago)

Oh. This is one of those British/American problems.

kingkongvsgodzilla, Sunday, 15 June 2008 18:18 (seventeen years ago)

(or European/American problems, not to exclude Mr. Hongro.)

"Radio Radio" was on the original U.S. album, come on.

If Timi Yuro would be still alive, most other singers could shut up, Sunday, 15 June 2008 21:05 (seventeen years ago)

The US release wasn't the original release, as it was two months later than the UK release.

Geir Hongro, Sunday, 15 June 2008 23:13 (seventeen years ago)

It was still 1978, and "Radio Radio" was a key track over here. Two months? Does that count as a reissue?

Hm. Are you sure it wasn't Andrew Bodnar and Steve Goulding of The Rumour on that one? Plus you seem to be implying Rockpile played on the first album, when in fact it was a band called Clover, which Huey Lewis was in, although he doesn't play on that one. They had a bass player turned chiropractor who later played with Lucinda Williams, Dr. John Ciambotti. Nick Lowe played bass on maybe one track.

James Redd and the Blecchs, Monday, 16 June 2008 01:49 (seventeen years ago)

OK, looks like Steve Nieve played keyboards on "Detectives," maybe that's what you meant.

I vote "Radio Radio." Then yeah, "Pump It Up."

Runners-up: "No Action," "This Years Girl," "The Beat," "You Belong To Me," "Lipstick Vogue."

"(I Don't Want to Go to) Chelsea" is better even than "Radio Radio".
