But he said the record will only be made if they can capture the right "attitude". Rotten said: "There could be a new record. That would be nice. But I won't do anything in a patronising way. The music, the subject and the attitude all have to be right at the same time. Everything has to be from the heart."

So, how about it?
See, it's one thing having reunion tours. Never mind the 'spoiling the history", in fact it's always going to be about the audience and if they are enjoying it. As far as seeing a piece of history, they'd be better off buying a DVD or a book.
But a new album?
It'd better be good Johnny! It'd better be good!

The chances of this being good are fucking miniscule. Didn't they put out a 'new' single in 1996? I remember it being awful.
― Matt DC, Monday, 16 June 2008 11:29 (seventeen years ago)
No it appears I made that up about the new single in 1996.
― Matt DC, Monday, 16 June 2008 11:30 (seventeen years ago)
heh.
Someone 'remixed' GSTQ. It was, um, forgettable.
― Mark G, Monday, 16 June 2008 11:32 (seventeen years ago)
I might get excited about a new PiL album with Wobble and Levene, but a new Sex Pistols album? I'll pass.

Predict the guests.
― The stickman from the hilarious "xkcd" comics, Monday, 16 June 2008 15:17 (seventeen years ago)
I'm gonna go with that Damon Albarn, Lethal B, and Dexter Holland.
― The stickman from the hilarious "xkcd" comics, Monday, 16 June 2008 15:18 (seventeen years ago)
Probably some try-hard US "rock icon" as well. Josh Homme or Tim Armstrong or Dave Grohl or the trampy looking dude from SOAD.

― energy flash gordon, Tuesday, 17 June 2008 11:18 (seventeen years ago)
This is great stuff, there has been a serious lack of obvious bad ideas like this lately.
― King Boy Pato, Tuesday, 17 June 2008 11:25 (seventeen years ago)
Yeah but that meant the orig got reissued on the flip side, on nice heavy vinyl.
I agree with King Boy.
― Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 17 June 2008 11:28 (seventeen years ago)

bbby gllsp the obvious coat-tail clinger, surely?
― Pashmina, Tuesday, 17 June 2008 11:48 (seventeen years ago)
Predict the guests. They should do a "duets" album. You know, pair Johnny with Jerry Lee Lewis, George Jones, Tom Jones, Barbra Streisand, etc.
― Jazzbo, Tuesday, 17 June 2008 12:28 (seventeen years ago)
Would certainly give Jamie Cullum's career a shot in the arm.
― The stickman from the hilarious "xkcd" comics, Tuesday, 17 June 2008 12:28 (seventeen years ago)
Revive without actual news?
sure...
― Mark G, Wednesday, 18 February 2009 09:54 (seventeen years ago)
What I'm really waiting for is for Lydon to tour 'Metal Box' with a reformed or plausibly cloned PIL. Not because I'd go, but it's going to be funny to see the haters climbing down.

To be given the opportunity to re-evaluate the Sex Pistols catalogue is every music lover's dream
Ummm, what? I think we've been given amble opportunity to listen to, you know, the one album and handful of b-sides. And demos. And dodgy live recordings.
― Gerald McBoing-Boing, Monday, 27 February 2012 15:01 (fourteen years ago)
Which I love, don't get me wrong. But there isn't even a barrel to be scraped anymore.
This just seems like a waste of money and effort.
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 27 February 2012 15:07 (fourteen years ago)
a 4CD Superdeluxe, and a 2CD Deluxe one.
No tracklisting, but
― Mark G, Tuesday, 19 June 2012 15:23 (thirteen years ago)
that recent p.i.l. album is pretty bad
― am0n, Tuesday, 19 June 2012 15:44 (thirteen years ago)
I like One Drop, but the rest is awful.
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 19 June 2012 15:46 (thirteen years ago)
It wasn't awful, but I note the lack of over in the whelm.
― Mark G, Tuesday, 19 June 2012 15:46 (thirteen years ago)
Also, I can't help misremembering the single:
"One Drop coming over the hill is it a monster?" ...
― Mark G, Tuesday, 19 June 2012 15:47 (thirteen years ago)
a second sex pistols album in 1978 probably would've been awesome. didn't lydon try to get them to play 'religion'?
― (The Other) J.D. (J.D.), Tuesday, 19 June 2012 19:23 (thirteen years ago)
They tried it on the afternoon of their last gig.
By all accounts, it was unsatisfactory.
