The reserve of elitists and snobs?

Dare, Thursday, 9 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

or are those not in the know not worth responding in the first place?

Dare, Thursday, 9 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

you write for pitchfork and yr talking about elitists and snobs?

(nb: i might be saying this just because i'm unconsciously guilty of this practice often.)

Oh, was that Bill Hicks thread really a Hammel on Trial thread?

Dave225, Thursday, 9 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

What's it got to do with elitism? Surely it's just saying "I want your opinion on this record/song BUT ONLY IF YOU'VE HEARD OF IT"

Yes to elitists and snobs. It's forgiveable if the title is bound to be known to everyone - there seems no great need to remind us who recorded Heartbreak Hotel or Pet Sounds.

Yeah, John Cale and Freddie McCoy!

I've complained about this before myself.

classic - you're less likely to get the "I haven't actually heard ____ but I don't like anything else they've done" response

dud: can't put the thread in context as it's that much harder to work out what ppl are talking about & obtain said track (unless artist obvious: beach boys etc)

"It's forgiveable if the title is bound to be known to everyone"
