despite stan spit dropping a pretty awful verse 'holdin it down' beat has an edgier vibe imho

deej, Sunday, 22 June 2008 23:50 (seventeen years ago)

even though the pete chorus kinda reminds me of jurassic 5, tru master is it for me...i like the beat better and honestly i don't think that's a total classic big L verse holding it down (though the man never really came wack)...also that spit kid jeez man, yikes.

plus man deck and kurupt both go hard on that, they are such an excellent match, like east coast/west coast sides of the same coin, they shoulda made an album together

M@tt He1ges0n, Monday, 23 June 2008 18:32 (seventeen years ago)

big L > kurupt >>> inspectah deck >>>>>>>>>>>pete rock >>>>>>>> stan spit

in terms of verses, so if i liked the tru master beat a little more i would probably go with that

deej, Monday, 23 June 2008 18:35 (seventeen years ago)

big l beat is better

am0n, Monday, 23 June 2008 18:37 (seventeen years ago)

they are both awesome, like choosing between which awesome hamburger you are going to eat

M@tt He1ges0n, Monday, 23 June 2008 18:40 (seventeen years ago)

stan spit's verse wouldnt be so bad if he wasnt bragging about how hes about to go platinum. seriously dude, talk about a verse that isnt going to age well

deej, Monday, 23 June 2008 18:42 (seventeen years ago)

i'm gettin stacks while you askin people do you want fries with that

thirteen years pass...

wanted to big up the ini full length center of attention. haven't seen a lot of discussion about it on here. maybe pete's best work?

(+yeah, prime era david axelrod samples certainly don't hurt)

also their ("water no get enemy"-sampling) song "grown man sport" got featured on some skate memes a few years back + now that one's sitting on ~60million streams. not bad for a vault album.

sry, here's some info @ discogs:
https://www.discogs.com/master/67052-InI-Center-Of-Attention

the bootlegs from the late 90s/early 2000s were rumored to have been put out directly by pete rock's team. they were legit, too! i had the double vinyl on "SOUL BROTHER RECORDS" + it sounded just as good as any other hiphop vinyl of the era. the first official release was the rapster/bbe issues from 2003.
