aneurysm

latebloomer, Monday, 23 June 2008 03:53 (seventeen years ago)

dive

electricsound, Monday, 23 June 2008 03:54 (seventeen years ago)

hard for me to think of 'big cheese' as a b-side since the only version of bleach i've known is the one where it's included

electricsound, Monday, 23 June 2008 03:54 (seventeen years ago)

Which was the hidden track on Nevermind? I can never remember its name.

Johnny Fever, Monday, 23 June 2008 04:03 (seventeen years ago)

endless nameless

electricsound, Monday, 23 June 2008 04:04 (seventeen years ago)

Molly's Lips it is for me

sam500, Monday, 23 June 2008 04:11 (seventeen years ago)

Most of those songs appear on the Hormoaning and Incesticide compilations.

SeekAltRoute, Monday, 23 June 2008 04:12 (seventeen years ago)

But I'm voting for Aneurysm anyway.

SeekAltRoute, Monday, 23 June 2008 04:12 (seventeen years ago)

why "Stain" and no "Been a Son"? weren't they both the B side to the 'Blew' EP?

for me it's between "Stain" and "Dive" aaand .. "Dive" it is. I remember vividly like it was yesterday when I first bought that "Sliver"/"Dive" single at the Dr. Wax in Hyde Park, and hurridly took it home to my apt so psyched to hear the latest dispatch from Kurt and the boys...

Stormy Davis, Monday, 23 June 2008 04:31 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah, my first thought was "Been a Son."

If Timi Yuro would be still alive, most other singers could shut up, Monday, 23 June 2008 04:33 (seventeen years ago)

is the version of "Milk It" that was a b-side any different from the one on In Utero?

some dude, Monday, 23 June 2008 05:58 (seventeen years ago)

Also, 'D-7' was on the Lithium E.P.

It's close between Aneurysm, Dive and Marigold - but I think Aneurysm edges it.

Chewshabadoo, Monday, 23 June 2008 10:05 (seventeen years ago)

aneurysm is their best song really.

the next grozart, Monday, 23 June 2008 10:07 (seventeen years ago)

I'd have picked "Been a son" too, as that Tupelo 12" was the only time the studio version got released.

Mark G, Monday, 23 June 2008 10:08 (seventeen years ago)

A pedant strikes - Oh The Guilt surely an AA side? And if A-sides not on (non-compilation seeing as half of Incesticide is here) albums count then Sliver should be on here.

Got to be Aneurysm though really. Dive also awesome.

Colonel Poo, Monday, 23 June 2008 10:17 (seventeen years ago)

Another vote for "Aneurysm" (best heroin metaphor song since "Gimme Shelter"), but I also really like "Moist Vagina" (which I think was labeled as "MV" on the back of the single, wasn't it?). I also like "Marigold," with Grohl's only lead vocal...I think he later re-did this with the Foo Fighters, but it kind of blew. I like the super flanger on "Curmudgeon." Shit, these are all great.

Savannah Smiles, Monday, 23 June 2008 11:56 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah, these are all fantastic. Indie me wants to vote for Molly's Lips, but I'm tempted by Stain.

emil.y, Monday, 23 June 2008 15:10 (seventeen years ago)

which I think was labeled as "MV" on the back of the single, wasn't it?

yes, and 14yr-old sea cadet me thought it meant this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merchant_vessel

Bocken Social Scene, Monday, 23 June 2008 15:23 (seventeen years ago)

mollys lips - i <3 nirvana + vaselines 4eva

jhøshea, Monday, 23 June 2008 15:30 (seventeen years ago)

Aneurysm is my fave Nirvana song!

Herman G. Neuname, Monday, 23 June 2008 15:33 (seventeen years ago)

Would've voted Been A Son, will probably vote Molly's Lips. For some reason (possibly called "buying the cassette version") I have trouble matching Incesticide tracks to titles and the non-Incesticide tracks I mostly haven't heard in a good while, so I hesitate to vote without listening.

a passing spacecadet, Monday, 23 June 2008 15:39 (seventeen years ago)

Voted 'Oh the Guilt' because it doesn't get enough love and I love that they helped out Jesus Lizard with that split. What a fine split it is ...
Really like aneurysm too, though.

BlackIronPrison, Monday, 23 June 2008 15:40 (seventeen years ago)

"Dive". "Even In His Youth" is the best of the post Nevermind B-sides by an even bigger margin.

Alex in SF, Monday, 23 June 2008 15:53 (seventeen years ago)

I really like "Milk It," but it isn't a non-album track. As much as I enjoy "Molly's Lips," I can't bring myself to vote for a cover either, so I think I'll go with "Dive."

augustgarage, Monday, 23 June 2008 16:56 (seventeen years ago)

Here She Comes Now is an a-side FWIW.

Steve Shasta, Monday, 23 June 2008 17:32 (seventeen years ago)

I fucked it all up. :(

Most of those songs appear on the Hormoaning and Incesticide compilations.

When I said "excluding compilation tracks," I was referring to songs such as "Do You Love Me" or "Spank Thru" (from the Kiss tribute and Sub Pop 200, respectively).. was trying to keep it all b-sides and not just "non-album tracks". I guess Been A Son and D-7 could have been included.. For some reason I thought "Been A Son" was only on the Lithium single as a live version.. I forgot that it was on Blew.. and for D-7 I normally just think of the BBC sessions.. my copy of "Lithium" has 3 tracks and no D-7. Whoops.

Does anyone else love Curmudgeon?

billstevejim, Monday, 23 June 2008 18:55 (seventeen years ago)

the whole lithium single is great... but D7 especially.

stevie, Monday, 23 June 2008 19:12 (seventeen years ago)

There's also "Gallons Of Rubbing Alcohol Flowing Down the Strip" on some In Utero-era 12". Not a patch on Aneurysm, but hety what is?

sexyDancer, Monday, 23 June 2008 19:20 (seventeen years ago)

Hidden tracks and b-sides are different.

I totally predicted that people were going to get all weird about what was included vs what wasn't included.. Labelling certain songs in Nirvana's catalog as b-sides / EP-tracks / etc can get very confusing at times.

And I find it strange people seem to be complaining that too many songs from Incesticide were included, considering that compiling b-sides and non-album tracks was the whole fucking point of that release.

billstevejim, Monday, 23 June 2008 19:22 (seventeen years ago)

xpost that was the extra track on "In Utero", it wasn't hidden.

Mark G, Monday, 23 June 2008 21:12 (seventeen years ago)

the whole lithium single is great... but D7 especially.
And it got me to buy a Wipers CD! (it is the BBC session version on the Lithium single btw)

"Molly's Lips" forever

Euler, Saturday, 28 June 2008 23:52 (seventeen years ago)

Aneurysm, of course. What a build and release!

chap, Sunday, 29 June 2008 00:04 (seventeen years ago)

Dive is great as well.

chap, Sunday, 29 June 2008 00:08 (seventeen years ago)

Aneurysm

altho it's the version that's on MUDDY BANKS... that i love best.

piscesx, Sunday, 29 June 2008 02:47 (seventeen years ago)

IT's a shame Verse Chorus Verse/Sappy/Happy/whatever it's called never saw the light of day. Maybe my favourite CObain track.

the next grozart, Sunday, 29 June 2008 03:05 (seventeen years ago)

Dive

ILX System, Sunday, 29 June 2008 23:01 (seventeen years ago)

actually i heard "I hate myself and want to die" a couple days ago on the radio, and that was prolley one of the coolest things to happen to me in the last couple of months...i didn't vote (prior to this, been a son was the only answer) but now i kind of wish i had voted for ihmawtd.

it's so garagey, even if the title still touches a bunch of nerves.

Drugs A. Money, Monday, 30 June 2008 20:58 (seventeen years ago)

plus >:( for no one voting for the WL/WH cover...

Drugs A. Money, Monday, 30 June 2008 20:58 (seventeen years ago)

No idea why everyone loves "Aneurysm" that much. Not even the best B-side on that single.

Alex in SF, Monday, 30 June 2008 21:00 (seventeen years ago)

i mean, i wasn't going to...but still...

Drugs A. Money, Monday, 30 June 2008 21:01 (seventeen years ago)

xpost: Aneurysm is long, and therefore, = epic.
