Stamp line here. It's gonna rule this poll.

rockapads, Wednesday, 25 June 2008 17:19 (seventeen years ago)

You know what it is about that line? Three things:

1. The dactyls in the previous line lag just enough to set things up for the volleyball spike of this line.

2. Amazing internal vowel sound of "heroes" and "appear", just thrilling.

3. It's true god damn it.

Dimension 5ive, Thursday, 26 June 2008 03:10 (seventeen years ago)

the line is an entertaining way to sum up so much

rockapads, Thursday, 26 June 2008 04:19 (seventeen years ago)

as the rhythm's designed to bounce what counts is that the rhyme's designed to fill your mind

i always loved that, the rhythm-rhyme/bounce-counts/designed-mind. chuck's dexterity is underappreciated. he can seem like sort of a monochromatic declaimer, but he's a lot nimbler than that.

tipsy mothra, Thursday, 26 June 2008 04:44 (seventeen years ago)

http://www.brothermalcolm.net/2002/stamps/images/stamp.jpg

It's still the best line though.

j-rock, Thursday, 26 June 2008 22:41 (seventeen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

ILX System, Thursday, 26 June 2008 23:01 (seventeen years ago)

That's a 33-cent stamp, i.e. it didn't exist in 1989.

The Reverend, Thursday, 26 June 2008 23:08 (seventeen years ago)

"That's a 33-cent stamp, i.e. it didn't exist in 1989."

I know that. Still, it's interesting that some of his heroes do now appear on stamps.

j-rock, Thursday, 26 June 2008 23:21 (seventeen years ago)

went with Elvis line cos it's the one I remember the most, and anyway I love Elvis and think Chuck D is wrong about what he says but damn that line pops

Euler, Friday, 27 June 2008 15:35 (seventeen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.
