Quite a bunch of good ones here too. Going for "Mr. Blue", which had sort of the fitting mix of Alison's melancholia and Vince's pop magic.

The only tracks here I don't like too much are "Sweet Thing" and "Good Time".

It has to be Ode To Boy, no contest. Mr. Blue would be my second choice.

The three songs not being played on the reunion tour: Softly Over, Happy People, And On. Personally, I'd have ditched Sweet Thing from the running order, in favour of The Other Side Of Love.

I would say "Happy People" ought to have been a natural part of the set. Partly because it's a great song, but also partly because it would be a way for Alison to let her voice have a rest while Vince carried the lead vocal for one song only.

Heh, Vince gave me a very firm "No" about that! It was his first and last lead vocal (and easily, easily their worst song IMO). He did contribute some backing vocals on the reunion tour, but they were all heavily treated - vocoderised throughout, as I recall.

The rest break came with "I Before E", which was performed on an empty stage... probably not so much Alison's vocal break as Vince's fag break though (he's still a committed chuffer). Alison also left the stage for a couple of minutes at the end of "Too Pieces", while Vince played a (superb) extended instrumental coda.

There is no way anything could possibly beat "I Before E..." there. Even though "Sweet Thing", "Good Time" and "State Farm" were all good attemps from Alison to beat it :)
