I'm test-driving a second one, after beating the following into the ground over the past year (using only their pre-Aja records):
Bodhisattva / Everyone's Gone to the Movies / Barrytown / Green Earrings / Your Gold Teeth II / Peg / Dirty Work / Razor Boy / Deacon Blues / Brooklyn (Owes The Charmer Under Me) / Rikki Don't Lose That Number / Pearl of the Quarter / Haitian Divorce / Any Major Dude Will Tell You
Thanks to this, I can't hear "Bodhisattva" w/out thinking "Everyone's..." going to follow it. And I'm way too geeked about following a Can't Buy The Thrill track w/ "Razor Boy" ("I hear you are singing a song of the past..."), but it kinda falls to pfft after "Deacon Blues", and "Haitian Divorce" got shit placement.

I've got a double disc SD mix for the car that I've been lazily assembling in a playlist for the last 2 years, maybe I'll finish it this weekend!

should I stick to my old plan of blocking all songs with prominent Michael McDonald vox together in a row or that idea cheesy y/n

Does Steely Dan hold the ILM record for most threads?
― Jazzbo, Friday, 27 June 2008 17:16 (seventeen years ago)
hell no. even by the old metric of Eminem (6 pages of relevant results) vs. Steely Dan (4 pages), they lose.
― some dude, Friday, 27 June 2008 17:18 (seventeen years ago)
i think MIA has 47 pages

"Any World (That I'm Welcome To)" is my fav MM vox, I checked the liner notes once to try to figure out all the ones he's on but I don't remember if I came up with a definitive list.

"what a beautiful world this could be.."
isn't it? I'm probably wrong.
― Mark G, Tuesday, 15 July 2008 09:35 (seventeen years ago)
"...what a glorious time to be free."
Nope. You got it right.
― kingkongvsgodzilla, Tuesday, 15 July 2008 09:37 (seventeen years ago)
Yea I cheated a bit by using 2 Nightfly tracks (IGY and The Goodbye Look) but what other mix tape would I ever get to include them on? And they're so close stylistically to the Dan that they deserve to be included.
Oh and "I Got the News" probably should be on that list.
― ablaeser, Tuesday, 15 July 2008 13:15 (seventeen years ago)
yeah, I feel you, Fagen solo is about as close to SD as a side project can get to its parent band anyway.
― some dude, Tuesday, 15 July 2008 13:21 (seventeen years ago)
