MAN DOWN

Lolpez, Tuesday, 1 July 2008 16:51 (seventeen years ago)

"Animal Instinct" is one of the best album openers ever. I'm gonna go for that, but there's so many tunes on this album I adore.

Tim F, Tuesday, 1 July 2008 22:05 (seventeen years ago)

have you ever noticed that you NEVER see copies of this album in stores? i saw a used copy today, sandwiched in between three or four used copies of "murda muzik" and a copy of "the infamous". but you never even really see new copies of this album, for some reason ...

moonship journey to baja, Tuesday, 1 July 2008 22:05 (seventeen years ago)

the corollary of that is that in every used CD bin ever: copies of murda muzik and amerikaz nightmare

moonship journey to baja, Tuesday, 1 July 2008 22:06 (seventeen years ago)

Voting "Drop A Gem On 'Em".

I'm not saying it's a bad album! Just not (as far as I remember) a brilliant one. Having said that I haven't actually listened to it for probably 7 years.

I will now rectify that.

linea, Wednesday, 2 July 2008 14:21 (seventeen years ago)

.... Sounding a lot better than I remember. Whether that says more for my memory or for the wackness of most current hip-hop I am not sure.

Prodigy blacked out on this whole album so hard that he never recovered

kid mush, Wednesday, 2 July 2008 15:59 (seventeen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

ILX System, Thursday, 3 July 2008 23:01 (seventeen years ago)

they gradually fell off after this album.

This is the most typical thing I hear when anybody is "discussing" mobb deep.

Lowell N. Behold'n, Thursday, 3 July 2008 23:04 (seventeen years ago)

whats the big deal about god pt. 3? its the worst beat on the album

am0n, Thursday, 3 July 2008 23:48 (seventeen years ago)

im not saying they fell off straight after HOE - i like things theyve done after (clap, keep it thoro etc) but its was the start of their ending ho ho.

titchyschneiderMk2, Friday, 4 July 2008 00:14 (seventeen years ago)

xp it was a single right?

deej, Friday, 4 July 2008 19:38 (seventeen years ago)

bloodspot, animal instinct, and ESPECIALLy 'still shinin' are the most underrated here. im pretty sure i voted for 'drop a gem' but i just listened to the album again and 'still shining' would def take it for me.

love the beat on 'bloodsport' tho

deej, Friday, 4 July 2008 19:47 (seventeen years ago)

whats the big deal about god pt. 3? its the worst beat on the album

agreed. can't stand the chorus, either.

I really dig the chill, looping melody of the title track. Prodigy's initial verse is too hurried-sounding though.

agreed about 'bloodsport' i've always preferred it to 'drop a gem on 'em'

Lowell N. Behold'n, Friday, 4 July 2008 19:52 (seventeen years ago)

Apostle's Warning probably has the best verse on the whole album.

kid mush, Saturday, 5 July 2008 04:00 (seventeen years ago)

four months pass...

would have voted for bloodsport.

So true. Haven't taken this CD out of the case since I scammed it from one of those CD subscription deals outta VIBE magazine in 7th grade. Woulda voted for Can't Get Enough or Nighttime Vultures. Beats for days.

Spinspin Sugah, Friday, 22 January 2010 01:59 (fifteen years ago)
