i don't buy top 40 albums but i constantly here people say "i'm not buying that album its only got 2 good songs on it". is there truth to that or is it just justification?

but is it true that many albums only have 2 good songs? cause sometimes albums need more time before you like more than just the singles.

sometimes albums have NO good songs

I download and decide if I'd spend the money. I recently bought Von Sudenfed, the new Breeders, and the new Sm + the Jicks record after dl'ing it. In fact, I sat on the free DL of In Rainbows for a few days before deciding I was willing to pay $88 for a bloated album release.
If the option to test drive a product before buying it is available, why wouldn't you?? However, if you do only like 2 songs - well, go pay for them at iTunes or wherever.

I've known so many people who only listened to singles, it's amazing that they ever bought albums.

I just reviewed an old Bunny Brains 45 here a couple weeks ago!:

(Oops, wrong thread -- that was supposed to be on the Bunny Brains thread. Delete if necessary.)
Anyway, my opinion is that some albums do indeed have two good songs, and some have more, and some have less. Just like they always have.

The argument may have been valid 10 years ago, but today single tracks may be bought.
Still, if an act has only two good songs, then he isn't worthy of your attention and you should move along to acts that are able to fill entire albums and built lengthy careers instead. They are the best quality ones in the long run.

on the other leg, if she only has two good songs, you should idolize her.
