Definitely "A Question of Temperature," the first new wave song.

Kevin John Bozelka, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 20:45 (seventeen years ago)

Lots of favorites on this disc.

Trip Maker, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 20:46 (seventeen years ago)

kinda wish I had the other Golliwogs stuff. didn't even recognize Fogerty the first time I heard it.

Shakey Mo Collier, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 20:47 (seventeen years ago)

Had this at the college station I volunteered at:

Fight Fire is probably the best song on it.

Trip Maker, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 20:49 (seventeen years ago)

Much second place love to "I'm Five Years Ahead Of My Time" which I first heard on my beloved Pebbles Vol. 3

Kevin John Bozelka, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 20:49 (seventeen years ago)

I keep fucking up img today

whoah had no idea there was ever a vinyl reissue - only knew about that stuff cuz of the Creedence box (which I never bothered to get, cuz I have all the CCR records already and its not like there's any b-sides/unreleased material)

x-post

Shakey Mo Collier, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 20:51 (seventeen years ago)

I got that Golliwogs record for free from a radio station getting rid of all their vinyl. And I promptly traded it - it's awful. Even the track that appears on Nuggets ain't anything to write home about.

Kevin John Bozelka, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 20:56 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah, I remember it not being anything all that great, but I kinda dig "fight fire." There's a nice picture in the nuggets box booklet of the Golliwogs in their white afro wigs LOL.

Trip Maker, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 20:58 (seventeen years ago)

Third Bardo!

Kenne Highland did a cover called 'he's five beers ahead of your time'.

gnarly sceptre, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 20:59 (seventeen years ago)

aw I like Fight Fire a lot :(

Shakey Mo Collier, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 21:01 (seventeen years ago)

ok how genius of a sentiment is "I'm Five Years Ahead Of My Time!" You GOTTA give it up to a dude with the chutzpah to sing something like that.

Kevin John Bozelka, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 21:05 (seventeen years ago)

Groupies "Primitive", although "You Must Be Witch" and "At The River's Edge" are also excellent.

Alex in SF, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 21:06 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah then Primal Scream covered it so. . . uh nevermind.

Alex in SF, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 21:06 (seventeen years ago)

"She's About A Mover", probably an obvious choice but it's my favorite here. I still don't know what it means to say that a person is "about" anything, though.

PSYCHO

Bee OK, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 21:27 (seventeen years ago)

not anyone here but the song. "At the River's Edge," "Beg, Borrow and Steal" and "Optical Sound" all could have won on a different day.

Bee OK, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 21:37 (seventeen years ago)

optical sound

electricsound, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 23:40 (seventeen years ago)

lollipop shoppe slightly over the dukes

M@tt He1ges0n, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 23:44 (seventeen years ago)

i'm seriously going to have to think about this. three or four of my all-time favorite songs on there, esp. the groupies and the balloon farm.

GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 00:00 (seventeen years ago)

bump, as it's fallen off the page.

Bee OK, Saturday, 12 July 2008 02:42 (seventeen years ago)

Usually I go for paint-peeling fuzz monsters on these polls, but on this one it's It's Cold Outside for me.

Colonel Poo, Saturday, 12 July 2008 02:46 (seventeen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

You Must Be A Witch comes next for me...

RabiesAngentleman, Saturday, 12 July 2008 23:46 (seventeen years ago)

That's the one song in all Nuggetry that convinces me "she" must indeed be a witch. Maybe it's because the "easy life in heaven with a thousand other guys" part sounds indistinguishable from punk 1977. Or at least Television.

Kevin John Bozelka, Sunday, 13 July 2008 00:24 (seventeen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

ILX System, Sunday, 13 July 2008 23:01 (seventeen years ago)
