Modern bands that mix Krautrock/motorik with Hawkwind-style psychedelia

I've never actually heard them but didn't people say that that band wooden shjips was doing this?

Check out The Nightfeeders - 21 minute long single/EP/album (I've heard it called all three at different times) they released earlier this year. I think it's limited to 800, but you should still be able to find it if you look around. It's worth the money. I think they've got a myspace with samples too.

Wooden Shjips certainly fits the definition as well, but I've got their albums and actually seen them too. I'll check out Turzi though.

I have a bunch of pre-Nightfeeders Nudity stuff mostly limited edition/private pressing sorta stuff; also pre-Quitty (band has gone through a few line-up changes - originally had two drummers, which was teh awesome).

Turzi isn't as heavy and raw as some of the other stuff being talked about here (and they also go in for Goblin type synth stuff) but they curated a pretty sweet compilation of French psych called Voyage which is the only place I've heard Aqua Nebula Oscillator, their track "Ready to Fly" is on there

I've spent the last month totally immersed in Audionom, which is very much on the the Kraut end of things, Joy Division touches in places, but also do 13 minute songs called Boogierock. I can believe this band hasn't gotten more attention. Retrospektiv might end up on my best-of-the-Decade list.

i thought that audionom cd was alright, actually, but one of the few in recent memory where i wanted more vocal tracks.

Endless Boogie finally clicked with me a few months ago, big time. Still love Audionom. Dark Meat's latest, Truce Opium is in this vein, and good, but not as good as their less-hypnojamming first record.

I've been dubious about Endless Boogie but I'm gonna make the plunge.

Oh yeah, GONG sometimes have that motorik/drone thing going. So much dross to sort through to get to the nuggets, though!

I might like them more than Circle, even. 1st record is good & I'm not sure what I think of new one but it has a great sound for sure, a lot of alternating spacey & heavy repetitive... trensmat 7" is awesome & collected on label CD comp

Mugstar have had quite the banner year! Both ...Sun, Broken... and Lime are spectacular. Just cranked the latter at ear-splitting levels and drifted right out of my head. Wonderful.

Purling Hiss played here in Brooklyn last night. Very cool live. They didn't headline so it was only about ~40 minutes, but I was impressed. Nothing revolutionary here, but if you dig this kind of music they are extremely skilled exponents of it.

Australia's Blank Realm is doing some things along those lines now. With a Suicide filter interposed. Album is Deja What? A song to start with might be "Full Moon Door."
