so i guess this guy has been getting some burn off of "haterz everywhere" (saw this on mtv actually) and "fuck you" but this mixtape (link at bottom) is bonkers. has dude going over white stripes, skynrd, an "elanor rigby" loop and probably a bunch more shit i'm not picking up on. granted dude's schtick can get a lil annoying at times, but it definitely shows that the pretty weird for a mainstream rap single ("haterz everywhere") is about as 'normal' as dude's gonna get. he's lovably odd and weird like dungeon fam (definitely in a distinctly atl way) and he blows shit like wale out of the water.
he says: You can't really place it in a category. It covers genres from rock to hip-hop, techno, swing music. It's everything. It's gonna change music. I know it's gonna change music. 'Haterz' is just a tiny spec. But it's a broad range of music. It's good because when people get to know B.O.B., they'll love him."
and he manages to kinda live up to this (not the changing music part obv) and it ends up being awesome and dizzying instead of unbearable. btw he's 19 years old.
here's the link for the tape, if you cut out the skits it's like 20 or so songs instead of 36 http://www.tjsdjs.com/music/bob/BoB_LRG_Mixtape.zip

he also spits a verse over wayne's "money on my mind" so he's got his foot planted in both camps for sure but nothing really seems forced which is another testament

i should note that not every track is a loop from a rock song, he kills a bunch of old roots style jazzy type beats and some normal rap ones

Do you guys say "getting some burn" when you speak, or just when you write? I've never heard that before.

Been seeing this dude on MTV Jams, seems like a smart + humble guy. Still love the shit outta "Haterz", so I think I'll take the chance to hear more of him.

haha
i had hopes for him early on but honestly "I'll Be In The Sky" was so completely godawful that nothing else since then has really shocked me
― some dude, Thursday, 8 August 2013 01:22 (twelve years ago)
his attempt to rebuild his credibility just shows what a horrible missed opportunity his career has been. no one can believe him now, y'know?

hey if miley can go from radio disney to getting ratchet in the club why can't lil bobby ray
― some dude, Thursday, 8 August 2013 14:24 (twelve years ago)
the worst thing about "headband" is the 2 chainz verse is so much better than it has a right to be, he's always shitting the bed on good songs and going in on lame songs
― some dude, Thursday, 8 August 2013 14:27 (twelve years ago)
the most confounding part of that song is why it's called "headband"
― Attractive Humas 2013 (a not-necessarily WS thread) (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 8 August 2013 14:31 (twelve years ago)
like how is it not called "in the mirror" or some shit

i like that 2 chainz has been on songs called "headband" and "trampoline" this year. he should do a track called "summersault" or some shit to really round it out.
