POLL: Best Track on Yes' "The Yes Album"

Ooh...The "Your Move" section of "I've Seen All Good People" is what is responsible for getting me fully into this band, though I don't like the second section as much. "Perpetual Change" has that great ride-off closing, though a bit too much repetition of that opening riff.

All in all, I'm giving it to "Starship Trooper".

probably my favorite album of theirs as well, I vote for all good people, boring and cliched as it is to do that. but this album has NO bad songs.

"...Disgrace"-prototype of a Howe-era Yes song.

Bill Magill, Monday, 14 July 2008 21:20 (seventeen years ago)

Starship Trooper > Perpetual Change > Yours Is No Disgrace > I've Seen All Good People > The Clap > A Venture

basically.

Silly human race

Yours Is No Disgrace rocks my world - I love that wah-ed out Steve Howe guitar break.

While all the tracks are great, this is still easily between the two epics for me. Going for "Yours Is No Disgrace", but "Starship Trooper" is very close.

Has to be "Starship Trooper".

Starship Trooper, but true enough, there really aren't any bad tracks on this (tho I never need to hear All Good People again)

Dominique, Tuesday, 15 July 2008 02:59 (seventeen years ago)

tho I never need to hear All Good People again

Amen to that.

wow, no perpetual change votes

"Perpetual Change" requires headphones to be properly appreciated. (That krazy claustrophobic "middle section" with all the various riffs battling for spuremacy)

It's great but that's some stiff competition.

That section where there's a full band in the left speaker vs. a full band playing something entirely different in the right speaker still blows my mind. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall un the studio when they were trying to get that to work.

i can't imagine voting for Yours Is No Disgrace over it, but Starship Trooper and All Good People are incredible, true.

I also have a soft spot for A Venture, and clearly the band did too, cause they went right back to that feel in the final verse of Close to the Edge
