is this being auctioned for charity, or are his descendants just greedy? sort of sad... i guess all of it can't go in a museum.

― amateurist, Monday, 14 July 2008 22:57 (seventeen years ago)
It is kind of sad in a way, I agree. Still, I would love that Moog.

NOT the best place to post this nec., but i heard a James Brown track the other night that i seriously need ID for: very long, with announced key changes to a D and then a section about what the letter 'F' stands for whilst getting to F. super-funky, with weirdly heavy kicks...definitely sounds like James on vocals, but the entire track is much more lushly-produced than msot stuff.
please help! i love him and i can't find the radio playlist or any reference anywhere.

What kind of tempo/feel?
― ichard Thompson (Hurting 2), Wednesday, 7 January 2009 18:54 (seventeen years ago)
it is a straight signature, i'd say fast enough to be mixed into some early house shit quite nicely. very deep, i'd venture that it is almost 10 minutes long-- sounds like a very intimate and fun live studio session-- not much in terms of actual singing moments, more just James being a bandleader and dancing, it seems.

kinda sounds like the Sex Machine remake from '75, or something else from that era

hmm investigation begins. thanks.
does it help if i mention there's a part where one of the band says "F is for.....FREEDOM" and everyone goes "hell yeah" and what? i might call the radio station if i can't figure it by the end of tonight.
