i can't decide between a few of these tracks...my heart says War but will probably go with 10cc.

Bee OK, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 00:24 (seventeen years ago)

"Slow Ride" just ahead of "Convoy"

Euler, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 00:51 (seventeen years ago)

I'm nearly convinced Beach Baby is the greatest pop sing ever (despite the inclusion of 10cc, the assured winner here).

PappaWheelie V, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 01:46 (seventeen years ago)

you mean pop zing?

My vote:
Clap
Clap Clap...

Mark G, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 08:22 (seventeen years ago)

"Magic" may be an amazing song, but "I'm Not In Love" is hard to top here.

Geir Hongro, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 08:45 (seventeen years ago)

Most difficult choice so far, but went with "Love Machine" in the end.

Jeff W, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 12:07 (seventeen years ago)

some other great songs on CD5 that probably won't get a vote are "Jackie Blue," "Chevy Van," "Feelings," "You Sexy Thing," "Lady Marmalade" and "Bad Blood." thinking others like "Shining Star," "Love Will Keep Us Together," "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet," "Miracles" and "Magic" will all, at least, get one vote.

Bee OK, Thursday, 17 July 2008 01:20 (seventeen years ago)

was torn between 'jackie blue' and 'magic' but then i saw 'lady marmalade' and the choice was easy. kinda repulsed by but nonetheless totally buying into the notion that 'miracles' is more popular than 'lady marmalade' on ilx.

'miracles' is more popular than 'lady marmalade' on ilx

If so, ilxors are dumber than I thought.

But what the hell...I went with "Chevy Van." Lots of great ones up there, though, as usual (including several that are as good, or better, than the 10cc song, which I guess will get all the proto-indie-geek art-pop votes Todd Rundgren got last time.)

I also want to mention that "Why Can't We Be Friends" is nowhere near War's greatest hit, but it still deserves to do better than "Love Train" did.

Only song I don't like on the list is "Feelings."

And shit, now I kinda wish I'd voted for "Sideshow."

And I hope Jimmy Castor gets some votes, too.

xhuxk, you are right on--Sideshow it is...a real tear-jerker, and agorgeous melody

I'm voting "I'm Not in Love," but I count at least five others that are VERY close runners up. 1975 was such a great year for music.

I believe in miracles.

Myonga Vön Bontee, Thursday, 17 July 2008 06:09 (seventeen years ago)

(...And I don't mean Jeff Starship, or The Miracles either.)

Myonga Vön Bontee, Thursday, 17 July 2008 06:17 (seventeen years ago)

then what do you mean?

Bee OK, Friday, 18 July 2008 02:27 (seventeen years ago)

"Jackie Blue"--oh yes.

inhibitionist, Friday, 18 July 2008 08:44 (seventeen years ago)

Hot Chocolate!

Myonga Vön Bontee, Monday, 21 July 2008 05:42 (seventeen years ago)

Expected, but very deserved, winner.
